Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
As long as his concussion is healed and his vision is not impaired once the playoffs begin I do not see why he wouldn't play with a mask. This is not like tearing an ACL and if you return too quickly you can destroy the structure of your knee. I say as long as he can see and his concussion is healed he will be out there. And I say the Sixers carry this momentum and run the table the rest of the way without him!

being that I'm the most cursed sports fan in the history of the world, and being that embiid has said NOTHING about being back for the playoffs, and being this is the sixers, I anticipate him NOT playing at all in the 1st round, which obviously means our exit in the playoffs
just so perfectly fitting

ok ok ok.
lets not jump off the bridge yet guys geez.
Even if it does lead to him missing the playoffs and thus us losing in the first round....so what? This all was house money at this point to me..any outcome was more than what I expected this season to look like. PLUS Simmons and Fultz now have to step it up and not having Embiid there is a good way to see that. This could be one of those "sucks at the moment but better for the longterm" type deals...yet again.
and if everything sucks over these next few weeks, then guys will get a grasp of what they need to work on and what the team as a whole needs going forward..because as freak of an injury this is, if one guy going down...tanks everything, then your TEAM was on thing ice in the first place... we need to make sure our plan B is viable in such a situation and this nonsense gives us the chance to evaluate that if nothing else, no?
...now if you excuse me, I am GPS the nearest bridge...for...uh...research

Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
Conservatively we better hope we get lucky and start a day late and maybe we get lucky for scheduling and get an extra travel day or something like that between 2 and 3. That would put game 3 around the 19th-20th. We would just have to steal one without him to consider it a success which I think our new and improved bench can do. I’d like to think this is worst case scenario
Of course throw all this out the window if he can play game 1. It’s a shame his conditioning will be off but I’ll just treat it as the rest I’ve been clamoring for him to get.
Richaun’s been posting about staying tuned and what not, well he better step up and protect the paint. The dunks are cool and all, and I love his energy, but our team’s success will be heavily dependent on his defense.

Yeah, nah.....a blown lead in a meaningless game will cause mass panic on this board. I make no apologies for panicking that Embiid may miss the playoffs considering where we were poised to be just yesterday.

The difference between plan A and B though is night and day. I love this team, but Embiid is the seperation from really good to elite.Mik317 wrote:ok ok ok.

You clearly haven't been around here lately. All this finals talk and conference finals talk. The minute amount of success have had people going bats-hit crazy around here. For me even with Joel not getting swept and being competitive in a series would be a fantastic outcome. Some people actually thought we were going to compete for a championship this year. Insanity.

its not insanity at all. there are 3 teams out there that are better than us. warriors, rockets and raptors. nobody else has a clear advantage over our young team. just look at the numbers with embiid on the court somebody posted. like 4th best o-rating and best d-rating. your opinion is much closer to insanity. but who knows if we still find that out now...

Great time for Simmons to put to rest the doubters who say he rides Jojo's coattails and put that crap to rest. With Embiid out Dario might be the guy whose numbers go up the most, they always do then, but Ben needs to make this his team and drive them to wins while Embiid sits.

1.) negative impact for fultz. I see TJ playing more since no embiid means less blow out games
2.) good time for both Holmes and Amir to improve conditioning and chemistry
3.) good time to improve our small ball line-up with Ersan-Dario frontcourt
4.) need to activate JA once healthy
5.) i'm 90% sure he'll be available for playoffs

At least 4 teams. Warriors, Rockets, Celtics and Raptors. Against Cleveland I still don't think we would beat a Lebron lead team if he had Kevin Love so you could make it 5. I wouldn't want to play a healthy John Wall and Bradley Beal either.
Could we beat them? Sure... I think we can beat any team in the league... but playoffs are almost another season on top of the regular season and to expect us to win 4 x 7 game series is a bit much to expect first year in. Especially as everything in the playoffs is intensified when you can play each other 7 times. Teams get to change their plan for players to shut them down. It's damn hard.
I don't think this year is anywhere even close to our best chance to win in the next few years... not by a long shot. If you lower your expectations you may end up enjoying the season. If you expect we are getting to the ECF's then this place is going to be unbearable when we don't.

Wow! I read the article and then the comments on wiretap. Holy crap there are some IDIOTS commenting on there. Personally I think he'll be back for the playoffs. Secondly I think we can win without him for a little bit. Obviously he takes us to another level. He's our heartbeat, but I'm not ready to quit on the season or playoffs. Let's see if Simmons can step up and carry us. Let's see if Saric can elevate his game, let's see if Fultz can come to life, let's see if Brown can really coach and work his magic. We'll be alright.

Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
I am perfectly fine getting swept in the first round, with or without Embiid. The actual result is not really that important to me.
What I am not fine with is losing the opportunity.
Just having Embiid and Simmons going through a playoff series together....to really find out what real basketball is. To get picked apart by the opposition and to really understand what parts of their game need work to reach their potential.

Its just a guess but to justify, its based on how minor the injury is and how big the playoffs is for the team.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
