To be fair isn't this thread a good example of how the relationship with them used (pre-Isaiah) to be?
Maybe I missed something but throwback and I **** around with each other a lot (inside jokes and I think he's a good poster), and CHL is just doing his CHL thing. I haven't seen much of that Isaiah era hatred in this thread.
I think the fact that both sides know messing around on the other side's board is getting you a temp ban at least, and a permanent one at worst. That has stopped a lot of it, but both groups still insist on taking stupid and unnecessary shots at the other side on a fairly regular basis. It just gets amped up when the teams play.
Yeah. I honestly want it to go away at this point. I never lurked here prior to joining, but since joining realgm and up until Isaiah came here, I had nothing but love for those guys even if I thought their forum was lacking in basketball knowledge. Both fanbases regularly vistited the others' forum. Vinbaker6 was a regular in game threads. Things were fine between us. That was 4+ years and I imagine things were fine before that as well.
Is it unreasonable to think we could get back there? Perhaps.

I think it is peaking right now due to both teams being pretty good. Wasn't bad at all when we were rebuilding and they were good. It's going to take one of our teams being awful before this rivalry settles down a little bit due to one side being humbled.
Wanna know the sad part though? The sniping between fanbases actually extends beyond realgm. The Raptors subforum on Reddit basically mirrors their subforum here. "**** Boston" will automatically get you 100+ upvotes in there. I watch NBA TV Canada and you got hosts, Randy Urban and Akil Augustine, making snide remarks about the Celtics there too. I don't even want to mention the trash you'll see on Twitter.
Will things calm down? I hope so. I also don't think this situation is as unique as we think it is. They have a large fanbase and so do we. Both teams are good, so that amplifies it a lot. But let's say the Knicks were good (I know, that's a tough scenario to envision) - I think things would be just as bad between their boards.

Drunken violence, what Toronto sports is all about.
Memories of Boston, a bright spot in their lives.
And you will cry when Saltics lose on Saturday.
