The Milwaukee Bucks want to include a 2,000-square-foot building as part of their beer garden "connector" between the arena plaza and N. Old World 3rd St.
The building would sit adjacent to the south side of The Loaded Slate restaurant, 1137 N. Old World 3rd, and have an entrance on 3rd St., said Marc Farha, executive vice president of Icon Venue Group, who represents the Bucks owners for the arena project.
The addition of the building was disclosed in documents filed with the city seeking changes to the development plan for the "entertainment block," the cluster of buildings that the Bucks are constructing on the east side of the $524-million arena.
The Bucks previously received approval for other parts of the complex, including the beer garden. That plan calls for an overhead canopy protecting the walkway and gathering areas in the space that the Bucks control between The Loaded Slate and Ugly's bar, 1125 N. Old World 3rd St.
The new single-story building would be a part of the beer garden complex.
Previously released renderings of the beer garden show informal seating and gathering areas, a long gas fireplace and a large screen TV. Updated renderings that include the new building are not available, Farha said.
The beer garden and other parts of the entertainment block are under construction on the site that previously held a large city-owned parking ramp east of N. 4th St., between W. Highland and W. Juneau avenues. The "Legends" ramp, nicknamed for the sports bar on the ground level, was torn down as arena construction got underway last year.
Structural steel and walls have been erected for one of the buildings on the south side of the complex.
At the north end, workers have installed the foundation and the core for an elevator shaft, Farha said. Structural steel work will begin on that building in a few weeks, he said.
All of the buildings should be fully enclosed by the summer, he said.
The Bucks have not announced tenants for any of the buildings, which are expected to include a brewpub, restaurant, retail space and other amenities.
The updated beer garden plan will be considered by the Plan Commission and City Council in April.
Built with $250 million in public money, the new Bucks arena is scheduled to open in late summer. The entertainment block buildings are not expected to open until next spring.

I've been to Bridgestone in Nashville for Preds games and concerts and it's great to have the entertainment district (Broadway) right there. Granted Broadway was there years before the arena was opened (1994) but if we can do even a mini version around the UNNAMED arena that would be great.

Too bad they didn't consider the Bucks offers back in the day.
I wanted it there too, but I'm kind of glad it isn't. I feel like there is so much more they can and are doing with this area...live block, development etc... The area looks awesome coming off the freeway.

Wonder if the naming is delayed given the playoffs are close now. Like they figured might as well wait in case we go deep in the playoffs and they can turn the screw for a few more dollars on the sponsor.

Bucks and Gruber partner on One Call, That's All Basketball Arena
Less than six months before the much-anticipated opening of their new Downtown arena, the Milwaukee Bucks announced today that they have finally secured a naming rights sponsor, and it’s one that will sound awfully familiar not only to basketball fans, but to every single person with eyes or ears in this city.
The Bucks unveiled their state-of-the-art, $524 million venue as the Gruber Law Offices’ One Call, That’s All Basketball Arena, partnering with the ubiquitously marketed personal injury firm that wasn’t believed to be among the two finalists for naming rights sponsorship but is nevertheless unsurprising as the choice

The worst halftime show/in arena entertainment in sports. I think the Bulls started it? It’s a trend I do not care for

The Grand Dancers are far more entertaining than our actual dancers. So are the kids.

Are they doing anything special on Monday for the final regular season game at the BC? I haven't really heard much.

I haven't heard anything about it. I'm sure they'll do nothing or botch it. They had a game at the old arena (great idea) and then have none of the players or coaches from that era at the game. Redd was there and he never played there. WTF? Halftime was some stupid painters instead of honoring the great basketball that was played there.

Getting blown out by a **** team would be the most special way for the Bucks to celebrate the final regular season game at the BC.

Granted it's not going to happen in April, but it would be hilarious if for an April fools joke, the demolition crew blew up the new arena instead of the Bradley Center.

You're right, it actually wouldn't be funny, but the looks on the owners faces would be more epic than anything the Bucks will probably accomplish over the next 20 years.

The new ownership loves those dumbass painters. There's had to have been at least 5 of those "performances" since they took over.
