^Sixers are absolutely stacked depth wise, plus remember they have a bunch of stashes too (Lessort, Bolden, Pasecniks). Good opportunity to snag some seconds.

I was going to propose the following -

Trey Lyles or Juancho Hernangomez, Malik Beasley

for

Denzel Valentine, Jerian Grant

This was actually an offer suggested by a Nuggets mod, I just swapped a 2nd round pick for Beasley and included Grant.

Salary-wise: Valentine for Lyles or Hernangomez + a 2nd - I like Valentine though and I'd expect the Bulls to say that's not enough. Since Chicago has cap-room, we could offer a veteran but I'd think Chicago's interested in building and our deepest position is PF and I'm not sure Chicago wants more than one young PF from us. Just not sure we're good trading partners.

We could always try something like Valentine for Chandler + 2019 1st.

Valentine's come on strong this season but I like this. Lyles and Beasley would be awesome for Val/Grant, gives us much more upside. Juancho's barely got a chance this year but has shown flashes.

This is an interesting reshuffle of some of Denver's more expendable assets in to players who fit their needs more.

I like this idea. Philly has a ton of picks. They arent' going to want all of them. Holiday would be a good fit there. We could even take Bayless off their hands.

Atlanta also has 4 pics including 30 and 33, Phoenix has 5 picks including 31 and 59. So, there are definitely options out there for picking up some second rounders.

Oh I'd love that, I have a soft spot for Devonte Grahm.

Graham and Brunson will make two teams very happy with their second round pick. I see high level, backup PG (spot starter) for both. Big fan of both.

I feel like Devonte Graham is going to be the Josh Hart of this year's draft. Just gonna be solid all around from day 1.

If The Bulls were to that trade how would the rotation look? I'm not sure I'd want 3 power forwards (Markkanen, Portis and Lyles). Can Lyles play C?

It means we'd be thiner on the wings, but maybe with our pick we get Mikal Bridges?

Dunno, maybe you end up moving Portis. Worst comes to worst I'd probably make Portis the backup C.

NuggetsWY (who I was speaking with) agreed that Lyles/Beasley for Valentine/Grant seemed suitable, with that in mind, hows about this -

Bulls finish in 6th -> take Bamba

Lyles/Beasley for Valentine/Grant

Pels pick/Portis/Felicio for 9th (NY)/Noah -> use the pick to take Young

In 2019, take one of the 2nd tier wings in the 5-10 range (at this point, that's Little, Doumbouya)

Dunn / Young / Payne
Lavine / Beasley
Little / Nwaba
Markkanen / Lyles
Bamba / RoLo / Noah

That's a dream scenario for me. Get rid of RoLo in a trade and you've probably got a tonne of cap space as well.

I remind myself, the most important thing for Bulls to do is to get a great player to be our foundation. Sure FA would be good, unless Paul George has a secret girlfriend who makes him come to Chicago or Kawhi forces his way onto our team - we gotta try to swing (and risk whiffs) on young high-potential guys.

My new goals:

1) Consolidate Valentine, Portis, and Pels pick into either a top 7 pick or a young starting talent with upside like Oubre.

2) Find creative ways to get Grant and Felicio off the roster - i.e. using 2nd round picks or RoLo or Holiday.

To me, the Sixers should have an interest in RoLo...... They need actual insurance for Embiid, RoLo would provide that.

RoLo for Bayless, Justin Anderson, and 37,39?

I don't think they will because they have Holmes and Amir Johnson, plus they have Lessort, Pasecniks and Bolden stashed, the former 2 are both C's and Bolden is a 4/5.

Johnsons a FA though. Lopez is an upgrade, plus a known quantity and I think they're probably into the stage they'll want some leadership and intangibles, blah, blah, blah.....

My guess is they'd feel better with RoLo as Embiid's backup, considering the next few years are when their window is open..... Add some leadership, stabilize the backup spot at an injury prone spot? (And grab Lebron lol)

I think they'd go that route honestly. Marginal upgrades at key spots become of more importance once you get to their position......

Which teams would be good trading partners for Portis? Miami, Washington, BKN, MIL

I'm torn, because I admire his work ethic and have seen real improvement in his game, but he still plays bad defense and is allergic to contact when setting picks. Also, I think he won't settle for being a backup or will cost us more than $10M per year. I'd rather sign a guy like Vonleh for $6M/yr.

Whiteside anyone?

Portis, RoLo and Pel's pick? He is highly paid, but a great pairing with Dunn, Lavine, SF, and Lauri.

If we could somehow trade for Kemba and Whiteside this summer, without giving up our pick in process, that could open up some interesting avenues for us.

Let's say deal #1 is something like:

Whiteside for Lopez, Portis, Holiday, 2018 Pels pick

and #2 is:

Walker for Dunn, Valentine, Zipser, 2019 lotto protected 1st

Those deals add appx. 8 mil. to our payroll, bringing us to 83 mil. in total, including LaVine and Nwaba cap holds, as well as #7 or #8 draft pick rookie scale contract, but it means renouncing Vonleh (his cap hold is 9 mil.).

If we stretch Asik and move Payne along 2nd rounder or two, we'd free up around 12-13 mil. which means we'd basically have a max spot available (cap is projected to be at 104 mil)

With our pick in this case I'd love to take Mikal Bridges. Imo, core like this could ideally entice a guy like P. George, since he'd have plenty of help, but still would be #1 option. Team like this would be a contender imo, with room for internal development:

Walker-Bridges-George-Markkanen-Whiteside
Grant-LaVine-Nwaba-FA-Felicio

Even if we settle for short term overpay of guy like Ariza as SF, or Bradley as SG, that would still be a pretty interesting team, again, with room to grow internally (Markk, LaVine, Bridges foremost) and be FA factor down the road.

I'm not trading a 23 year old Portis for a 29 year old Whiteside.

Paxson has repeatedly said that this is an undertaking and the goal is a championship, so they're not going to rush things.....

Granted, this ain't exactly Theo talking, who has his vision, and sticks with it, until he gets what he wants.....

But even Paxson ain't switching gears THIS quick either.

I expect no trades, other than possibly dealing off Lopez and/or Holiday. Unless they absorb a bad, multi year contract and I don't even expect that, because the org is too cheap.

Draft, maybe those type of trades, and they'll sniff around some younger FA, for a bargain.

Anything else and I'm shocked.

Wonder if we package our pick with NOs if we could get to 5? My target would be Porter. Think Orlando would be the ideal trade partner because they need a point guard and Sexton or Young is available maybe it could work. This is only possible if Doncic is already taken.

Bobby is a polarizing player, and one on a good trajectory. But I still worry that he has such big holes in his game (defense and bad hands), that I'm not sure how much upside he has. Also, I don't think he's a good fit next to Lauri, which will limit his minutes.

Who are some of the best SFs that might be on the trade market this summer?

I feel like if we draft a wing like one of the Bridges, we should consider pursuing Noel or Len to play C. But if we draft a big, the free agent SFs are much crappier. Who could we target in trade?

Unless we are aiming to jump the rebuild trading for some high level payers that are on the market, and then complementing it with aggressive FA approach for top FAs, I don't think we should consider it at all.

Maybe Noel on cheap, multiyear deal (up to 8, 9 mil pers season) because I think there is an All Star in him if he is healthy, motivated and given play time.

With the promise of an extension. Anyone but lauri for Kawhi (because id want to pair those 2 up).

Payne, Portis, Bulls pick (6-8) and Pelicans pick (18-20) for Kawhi.

Really id throw in lavine and/or dunn too but would be a last resort because id like a Dunn Lavine Kawhi Lauri 4.

RoLo and Holiday for Whiteside and a 2nd...is it possible?

We must get rid of Grant, Felicio and Asik too
