If you want it to stop, just pick Tatum, so my man can get on with life.

I picked Mitchell just so he can't get on with his life.

Mitchell but in a couple seasons I could see it being any of Tatum/Ball/Fultz/Fox as well. Think they all have a ton of untapped potential.

Simmons is the only rookie who is really dominant for stretches.

While I think that Simmons is obviously better than Mitchell, your statement is simply not true. Donovan has been able to be dominant for stretches this year too, just not as regularly as Ben.

Arguments for Simmons include :
His rebounds that fluff his DRPM. Only 27 % are contested meaning they in larg part a product of his role on rebounding.
His assist numbers are high partly due him having the ball on almost every possession and being a pass 1st guy. Most PG with as much time with the ball while being surrounded by shooters can get you 8 assists per game as a pass 1st guy.
His FG% is high because he has a low scoring load, plays off of the gravity of Embiid and all of the shooters. Having all of those shooters is possible because of Embiids, Cowingtons and Simmons good defense. Remove Embiid or Cowington and the defense would start collapsing.

You cant compare stats in a vacuum because players dont get them in a vacuum. This aint fantasy where bigger stats mean better player.

Well Embiid was missing from the last game and Simmons still gets a triple double with some of the freakiest passing you’ll ever see, and a couple of step back jumpers.

Against the Hawks without Shroeder. I watched the game. He was good but i wouldn't say he was dominant as his stats would let you think.

Triple doubles are overrated because stats are easier to get in this era and are largely influenced by your role on the team. If the team makes a player the major piece of their team, having him involved in every aspect of the game, his stats tend to be inflated.

One could argue that being so involved is the result of a players capability so his stats would reflect his value. One can also argue that it can also be the case where the player is capable but he is put in such a role where he does many non difficult tasks while getting statistical credit for a team effort.

Id argue that both cases apply to Simmons in some measure.

Just admit first of all that you think pure point guards are trash. Everything you’ve said about overrated statistics apply to pure points i.e having the ball every play. Once that’s out of the way we can be clear about your agenda.

Second everything you just said can be applied to every teams star player. If you have a star player who can do everything you are not going to tell them NOT to do something. Their role on the team is to do whatever they do best. Therefore everything you just said applies to any star player around the league including Mitchell given they consider him a star so there’s nothing in your post that isn’t redundant.

I am on a plane, so all I can do is check updates on ESPN.com...no Embiid...no Saric...huge game in terms of getting the 3 seed...and it looks like Simmons is KILLING it.

Is anybody watching the game?

13 assists through three quarters is nuts. Can any Sixer fan tell me why his assist numbers have been so high lately compared to earlier in the year?

He's going off in the most Simmons way possible. Amazing passing, Sick reverses, and simply pushing the ball down the oppositions throats.

2 things. He just seems more comfortable in the Spurs offense and there isn't a drop off when the bench players go in. Beli and Ilyasova is a huge offensive upgrade from earlier in the year.

Embiids presence for Simmons is like Dragon ball weighted armor like what Piccolo wears.

With Embiid out the handicapping armor is off Simmons and we are watching a fully unleashed Simmons devastate teams now.

My god is he insane. Hope he gets the triple double today.

The entire court is his playground with Embiid out. Before the team ran a portion of its offense thru Embiid which limited the room Simmons could work within.

Now that Embiid is out they are running everyone all over the place and leaving the paint open. The pace has also increased because we aren't waiting on Embiid to come down the court which he'd be slow doing at times in order to conserve energy.
