Simmons is a very unique player and I suspect that his basketball IQ might be even higher than Lebron's (obviously, Lebron beats him in athleticism and shooting). And I think he kind of plays basketball like how an elite #10 plays futbol.

Ben Simmons is beyond just the best rookie. IMO he is challenging a top 20 player in the league. Honestly I probably make a case that I rather have Ben Simmons today than John Wall, Kyle Lowry, or Kemba Walker. Kyrie is the only point guard in the East I would take over him. That may only last a few more weeks.

If Lebron doesn't sign with the Sixers. The more i see Simmons the more it be a terrible fit with him and Ben. If he doesn't sign with the Sixers Simmons will have a shot next year to average a triple double. He is now getting around 15 assist and making it look easy. Also becoming a bigger and bigger monster on the boards.

Simmons loses nothing to LeBron in terms of athleticism

Guy is 6'10"+ and has the coordination and fluidity of a much smaller guy plus he is strong

He is a unique package in that regard

Compared to prime Lebron? I disagree. Prime Lebron's athleticism is off the charts.

Donovan Mitchell has had a great season but Ben Simmons is just on another level. He's finished the season great and so has Philly so that's sealed it for me.

Athleticism includes strength. I'd be surprised if many athletes in the history of sport have had LeBron's combination of physical and athletic attributes.

Yup, pretty much this.
Amazing season for Mitchell but Simmons deserves the most.

I’m really hoping LeBron does not sign with Philly, not because I’m a Boston fan but because I think there is a massive chance it will stunt Bens growth. It could go the other way though.

Athleticism, yes I agree theyre quite equal there. But where Lebron has a HUGE edge right now is obviously shooting, scoring instincts and his absolute power.

Lebron is hybrid playmaker/scorer force.

Simmons’ game is basically a re-incarnation of Magic Johnson’s.

I agree with this. I want to see this team develop and become a dynasty in their own right. I really hope they look at keeping the right players surrounding Embiid and Simmons. Could even see Sixers targeting Exum being childhood mates with Simmons and playing under Australia's previous head coach without having to overpay like some teams may come free agency. Exum showing good comeback late in the season and versatile switching between PG/SG/SF.

Edit: They'd have to overpay. Forgot Exum is a RFA so any reasonable contracts Utah will match. Unsure how much is too much for Utah to let go.

So this is from before today, when Simmons put up 20/8/15/3/2 with only one TO and was +21.

Voting is going to be a lot closer on this award than it should be.

This is very much true.

Lebron is a great passer but passes off the aggressiveness of his scoring ability. I don't put Lebron on the Magic Johnson level as a passer because mainly he wants to drive and kick. He probably could play a different style but he has pretty much played the same way since entering the league.

Lebron came into the league and played point guard his first year. He didn't like it because he wants to be a scorer first. Phili didn't even know what position they were going to play Ben. I was so happy when they said he be playing point guard. I said when Ben Simmons was in LSU he reminds me more of Magic than anyone in history and needed to play point guard. He doesn't look to score first but pass. However it isn't that Lonzo or Rubio style where they don't really make the defense defend them. They just playing hot potato with the basketball. Ben forces double teams and gets players open with his movement. He sees the game in that Magic Johnson way where he knows if he goes to a certain spot he can make the defense get whoever he wants open. He seeing things 3 seconds in advance. Phili can have an unstoppable offense one day because of it.

What is scary is over the last couple of months he is shooting less. It isn't because he is struggling to score or anything. He has been so good at getting teammates open looks he hasn't had to score that much.

I hope he Lebron doesn't go to Phili because he will do what has happened to all point guards playing with Lebron. They do less and become frustrated. As Lebron is a score first point guard that keeps telling people he is a pass first forward. Unfortunately I have a bad feeling. When Miami landed Bosh and had a bunch of cap space I said the Heat was going to the finals regardless if Lebron went to them or not. I think Lebron thought the same thing and thought wasn't going to compete against that group.

When the Cavs got the number 1 pick I said they would pick Embiid and Lebron would join them because he wouldn't pass up on playing with Kyrie and Embiid in his hometown. While Wade and Bosh were getting old. Embiid got hurt so they didn't take him but Lebron still joined the up and coming Cavs knowing they could trade Wiggins.

I'll say it once again I don't see Lebron going back to Cleveland and playing against a stacked 76er team. They would be stacked if they sign a free agent. I think Lebron would join them just so he wouldn't have to compete against them. Either the Cavs make a monster move or he joins a team he thinks is stacked.

People are slaves to points per game. It is crazy to think he might not win ROY and is winning in almost every stat except for points per game. I thought we was past that but I guess not.

There is no debate, Ben Simmons is clearly the ROTY.

That is the only answer.

Josh Jackson's last 10 games: 21.2/5.3/3 and 2 steals

Way ahead of schedule.

Agreed. They are very similar players. It's such a shame as Philly and their excellent young core getting a prime superstar like Lebron would be such an amazing combo- but Lebron's just not the right fit for them.

Mind you, if Lebron is keen to go to Philly- you can't really say no from Philly's perspective.

I suppose with dead-eye 3PT shooters at the SG and PF spots (along with Embiid's excellent range at C, and Lebron's good enough range at SF), it could work. Their fast break would be amazing obviously, and I could see Lebron and Ben teaming up great with one-two passes to each other for easy buckets. Also you could rotate them so both spend time on the court alone when the other is resting. The more I think about it- the more I'm trying to convince myself it'll work well .
