I'm so happy to see him live to see Hall of Fame.

He deserves it. I'm glad they did not hold what happened to Bias and the program against Lefty forever.

Dean Smith and Jim Valvano are gone. Moses Malone is gone. Len Bias, Owen Brown, and Chris Patton are all gone. That Lefty is alive to see this day is really fantastic to me... He deserved to see how appreciated he is.

Lefty went on to coach young men at James Madison and Georgia State.

He's a coach's coach and a great man. I'm literally in tears about this. I have so many Maryland memories it's not even funny.... I'm sure I shared the one about the time I yelled "Fire Lefty!". They were losing to Towson. I yelled that from the student section. Lefty stomped and he whipped around and looked to see who said it.

Before that big man could see me I sunk down low in my seat!

I was scared... Just a punk student at the time.

He was a kind man and funny and just a great character. And what a coach. Better recruiter than coach but also a good coach. Most of all just a good man.

Sorry for the rant but I am beyond happy. Albert King married girl I went to school with. (Once played two on two with him...and played a small role in his wedding ceremony). I recall him as a Lefty number one recruit (the same year Magic Johnson came out of HS.). You guys know I met Len Bias... But my memories of Lefty stem back to when Lucas and Elmore and McMillan were playing. My dad and I didn't exactly see eye-to-eye but we bonded over basketball. My first game was the Terps with those guys.

I'm just so happy to see that old man in the Hall of Fame....

Mark Turgeon

That's it. The last 50 years.

He didn't make it the UCLA of the East; but the left-hander damn sure made Maryland a great program.
