We would be a 50-55 win team if guys actually played hard every night and took care of business of against bad teams. The sense of accomplishment/entitlement this group is poisonous, will always result in a 45ish win season.

Losing in the first round in 4-5 games would maybe change their mindset going forward. A trip to the 2nd round would probably have them keep the same approach.

We have a losing record against teams that are above .500.

In October, we were 2-1 vs. above .500 teams.
In November, we were 4-5 vs. above .500 teams.
In December, we were 5-3 vs. above .500 teams.
In Jan/February combined, we were 6-7 vs. above .500 teams.
Since March 1, we we've gone 5-8 vs. above .500 teams.

Not all that exciting.

Edit -- Shanghai, I quoted the sentence above from your post just before mine: I take it you thought better of it & took it out?

Disappointing? Yes.

Mind blowing or shocking? I would disagree.

Remember when Boston bounced us last year and Brad came out and said "It's cool, Cleveland didn't want to play us anyway." and everyone here praised his "go get em" attitude.

Yeah it was something said on the TNT broadcast (could have heard it wrong) but was corrected on another board so removed it.

It doesn't change my thoughts from the rest of the post, our inability to beat bad teams is not about our inability but about our effort and poisonous mindset.

Make no mistake we need a roster overhaul and a talent overhaul, but even as is this team always underachieves in the regular season.

Beal has played 83 minutes in 2 back to backs. :o

At least the Wizards next game is on a Tuesday.

Yup. When Wall is out, he's the only one who can create his own shot. Everything goes through him. No wonder he gives no effort on D and I think Brooks was singling him out about being selfish and playing with zero intensity.

Most teams have a losing record against above .500 teams, even pretty good teams.

The only players on this team I like are Porter and Sato. I still have hope for Wall but its fading fast.

he reminds me so much of the late Flip Saunders. he was a good person but I was not a fan of his lay back coaching style.

This team needs a hard-ass Scott Skiles type of coach in the worst way.

No they don't. That is what Wittman is for. What they need is someone who really knows basketball, x's and o's, and analytics. We keep getting idiots

Need a coach that preaches ball movement, cutting, and obviously defense.

They shid the bed in 2016 by going after Brooks so fast and giving him $35M over 5 years.

Luke Walton would have been a much better candidate or one of the Spurs assistants like Ime Udoka.

But before we even think about a new HC. We need a new GM. :banghead: :banghead:

Need a retool from the Owner down to the ball boy. Than in maybe 20 years they may be half as good as a org like Boston. :noway:

Here’s a fun stat for you guys that might seem like nitpicking, but actually probably really hurt us all regular season in a big way.

You know how Brooks likes to sub Kelly Oubre in for Otto Porter for the first substitution, choosing to play two bigs instead of small ball every single game?

Lineup of Wall-Beal-Oubre-Morris-Gortat net rating is -5.6

Lineup of Wall-Beal-Oubre-Porter-Gortat net rating is +14.8

The small ball lineup of Satoransky-Beal-Oubre-Porter-Morris is +25.9 on the year

That no point guard lineup that Brooks used all season? Beal-Oubre-Porter-Morris-Gortat??? -74.7 net rating, yet people on this board defended it.

Remember when Tim Frazier played over Satoransky for the first 20 some games? He has a -4.0 net rating and almost every single lineup he’s featured in is negative. Satoransky is +2.5 net on the year.

We have a moron of a coach that has cost us around 10-15 wins this season. That and Wall having the worst season of his career+missing 8 weeks is why they sit at 40ish wins and a low seed.
