Hard to arguer with any of those picks. Maybe Dantoni for Coach of the year given what he has done in Houston, but Casey still wins in my book.

I believe D'Antoni has never gotten the respect he deserves. In my book, big parts of the Golden State offense doesnt show up if not for D'Antoni and his "seven seconds or less" run and gun Phoenix offense, he is the creative mind behind the whole recent "new NBA". People look at his Lakers and Knicks time and forget his impact overall.

I have been a D'Antoni fan for quite awhile, especially when he was with the Suns. He had the players there to implement that style with Amare and Nash and JJ. Take away the thuggery when Nash was clobbered and that team probably wins the title. Not so much when he was in NY, there was a situation where he had a winning system but needed players who fit and who bought into it but didn't.
I agree he is the originator of the "new NBA" style of play.

D'Antoni won Coach of the Year with the 2004-05 Suns and won COY again last season with the 2016-17 Houston Rockets, so I would say he's received some respect and recognition.

Re: Jazz 2017-2018 Season Thread
I love it that the Jazz team is playing so well heading in to the playoffs, but I am knocking on wood that the Jazz can continue to do it for one last game against Portland tonight to finish up strong. Maybe I am imagining things, but DM seems to be trusting the team offense more and taking his shots in the flow of the game. O'Neale seems to be over his stretch of bad offense, while continuing to play hard nosed defense.
The only thing kind of bugging me right now is that Crowder's shooting percentages are poor and he puts up a lot of shots, but nonetheless, when Crowder is in the game, the Jazz usually continue to play well. Hopefully Johnnie Bryant's development magic can eventually get Crowder hitting shots at respectable percentages. Go Jazz!!!

I agree that DM has been playing within the offense more, but I wish he would figure out that he needs to have a plan b when driving into the paint when it is clogged. That will probably come with time.
I don't mind Crowder shooting an open shot when the ball has already been passed around and he is wide open, even if there is a 2/3 chance that he'll miss it. What is driving me crazy is when he shoots it early in the shot clock or when there aren't any of his teammates in position to get a rebound. He is not cutting off the ball as much as he used to when he first got here, which is think is a reflection on the offense and it being a bit too perimeter dominated. Crowder and O'Neill both were great cutting off the ball when they first started with the Jazz, and then increasingly didn't. I think that the offense needs a bit more of that, personally.
Overall, though, when the Jazz play like they did last night (or the nights when they have beat teams by 20 pts), it is reminiscent to me of when the Spurs dismantled the Cavs a few years ago in the finals. The ball and bodies were moving around and the Spurs were playing nice team ball, and the Cavs looked foolish. That is what some games have looked like this year with the Jazz, and I love it, and hope it continues well into the playoffs.

48-34 for the season. Congratulations guys!!!
I had us pegged at 42-40 before the season and figured that was pretty optimistic. Let's get some playoff experience now and then build for next season.
Go Jazz!

Jerami Grant played well against us. He could be a decent pickup to “replace” Favs if he chooses to leave. When he squared up for a 3 I expected it to go in.

That would be a decent pick up. but I have the feeling that D Fav's likes it here and will stay. They have something special and he is an extremely Important ingredient in the mix. His personality doesn't want nor need the spotlight and with Gobert and DL taking that this is perfect place for Favs to continue his career. Historically, how many former good player from the Jazz have left and had better careers? Compare that to the MANY that have left for better situations and then become non issues. I know he is due for a potential big payday and he absolutely deserves it. My hope is that the Jazz figure a way to keep him & he stays. If they have to choose whether to keep Exum or Favors bc of $, this series, and especially this last game, show the major gulf between the two and highlights that Exum isn't anywhere near as important to the team as Favors is. I like Exum, but I have been a big Favors fan since he arrived. Look at his development since the trade and even with his injuries, he has been huge in a quiet way for this team. This is a perfect situation for him continue to improve, make a significant contribution regularly, and not have the spotlight on him.
My hope is we get Thabo back, then trade Jerebko, Udoh, and Crowder for an upgrade on a wing that can play either the 3 or the 4.
