Bucks Keep 2018 Pick
I don't want the pick. Rather give it up this season. What say you?

Risk averse position. Give up the worst pick you could possibly give up this year, and don't worry about it again.

I'll take the pick. Not that I care or have hopes we'll get an actual player, but it gives me something to read about in June.

Re: One day left: Do you want the pick or nah?
I’m giving up the pick. Our luck Giannis goes down next year and we lose a top 10 pick. Giving it up now also allows us to trade a pick if needed at the deadline next year to get a quality player.

It would definitely save me a lot of time not having to research the draft, though I suspect with DX going corporate, I wouldn't be spending as much time anyway.

Re: One day left: Do you want the pick or nah?
The 16th pick has value, but not that much. Dump it now versus a much higher pick years down the road if Giannis hurt.
BTW, the if the Bucks send the pick out now, they are free to trade any future first rounder immediately after the draft in June. A future first rounder even with some lotto protections is likely worth more in trade than the 17th pick in 2018.
Psychologically teams like to trade for those undefined future picks in the hope they turn out better than 17th overall. So for those of you wanting them to keep the pick this year for trade purposes, you might be better having them cough it up, allowing a future pick to be dealt.

tear the bandaid off. the sooner we get rid of the pick the sooner we can start a mini rebuild.

Lose it now and get it over with imo. The protections after this year are risky as hell.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Of course I want the pick. And honestly I can't believe that 100% of Bucks fans aren't on the same page. Beating a banged up Boston team just to "win a playoff series" isn't going to suddenly make me feel better about this team. They've been a frustrating watch all year. Ideally everything clicks with Brogdon back and we can make a deep run. But purposely forfeiting a 1st round draft pick just to secure a more favorable round one playoff opponent doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Bookmarking this quote for future "value of mid 1st rounder" debates. I swear...

Re: One day left: Do you want the pick or nah?
I'd rather move it now for the freedom it gives them in trades. Plus we know it's just a 16ish pick rather than keeping riding it out where down the line a Giannis injury could lead to us giving up a much higher pick. I realize they need more depth but buy a second if needed, maybe actually get a useful mid level type FA signing for once and hopefully it can cover you. Plus hope for some improvement from Sterling.

Probably best to relinquish the pick now. I’m not that enamored w any of the prospects available in current mocks and I really don’t want to burden Dean and Horsty with another decision in their already full schedules.

Re: One day left: Do you want the pick or nah?
Our current GM/front office thought DJ Wilson was a top 10 prospect in this draft. Chances of us coming out of the draft with a decent player is pretty low. Rather lose the pick now and hope we get some smarter draft guys next time we pick

Take the whole quote in context. The 16th pick doesn't have that much value compared to a much higher one we could cough up down the road.

That's not at all why people are saying they want to give up the pick.

If we keep our current front office, I’m fine with losing the pick now. If a miracle happens and the owners clean house and bring in a legit POBO/GM, I want the pick this year.

Yup, it has nothing to do with playoff matchups. It's pretty simple, rather give up a mid round pick now than a potentially higher pick next year.
