Re: Mikal Bridges
I like Bridges and would love to have him but Portland already has two really similar players in Harkless and Aminu who can shoot the open 3 and defend well. Problem is none of these guys can create their own shot or become Paul George. Very serviceable starters but not stars.

what did he say? and i agree - whoever drafts him is going to be very happy.
"I bring winning to your team," Bridges told ESPN. "I learned about that at Villanova, what is a winning, championship atmosphere and what you've got to do to achieve it. You have to always be locked in. Two championships in three years -- not a lot of people have done that."
"There's space in the NBA on the floor, and there's this move toward positionless basketball that I fit into," Bridges told ESPN. "I can shoot the ball. I can defend. I can move without the ball. I'm progressing in my game, getting better through work every day."
"My success has been because of a lot of hard work and a lot of patience," Bridges told ESPN. "My first year in college, that was the longest time I ever sat out. Villanova and the coaches helped me to build a really strong work ethic. I didn't have as much of an ethic my freshman year, but I was pushed a lot by my coaches and that helped get me to become the player that I am."
"They weren't phenoms when they came out of school," Bridges said. "They weren't always on top and dominating. They were very low-key guys. They kept getting better and better."

Those two guys are good players to have at the 3, but Bridges has way more potential as a shooter than either of them. He isn't going to strictly be a standstill catch and shoot guy.

Re: Mikal Bridges
I have him anywhere from 6th-8th. I don't see an elite defender or shooter but I think he's going to be Mr consistent. I think he's going to give you good versatile defense while being a guy that will make teams pay if you leave him open from 3.
I don't see a game changer or anything like that. But I think he's going to be a starter that every team would love to have.

Hmm. He sounds like a media-coached upperclassman to me.

He seems like the type of guy that will learn how to get open and attack off the catch. If he adds that to his game were talking 2 way almost all star level impact by the time he's 25. A la Otto Porter but a little more size

Re: Mikal Bridges
Is Bridges being slept on at this point? I'm not necessarily saying in real life, but among fans and draftniks?

Yeah, I think people tend to blindly think older = worse prospect, but that's just because the vast majority of players leave school the instant there's any NBA interest, which makes it more likely that the older prospects on the NBA radar may be players who just had a lucky breakout season or a 'contract year push.' For the exceptions to the rule, it isn't that big of a deal: I thought of Bridges as a no-brainer 1st rounder/possible lottery pick last year, and then he came back and nearly doubled his scoring average/3-point volume while playing for a team that steamrolled the competition.

I’m so sure of MIkal Bridges, I would honestly consider him before some of these big names. Like I’m 100% sure about him. He’s the Donovan Mitchell in this draft and I don’t have a doubt. I don’t think he’s going to be a franchise guy in the same way, but he’ll come in and be the second best player on a playoff team.

I love the guy as well, I would just sometime wish he would hit the floor with more urgency and fire. Thats the main thing I would want to see from him

Re: Mikal Bridges
Apparently he shot poorly in both the Charlotte and Chicago workouts. Combine that with measuring at 6'6 and I think that's enough for teams to take Wendell/Miles/Trae over him.
(not that I'd let a couple of workouts undermine a NCAA career as a stud shooter)

He's an excellent college shooter but he's also unorthodox, that there is no doubt of. That's my main worry with him - for a guy who can't create his own shot what happens if his numbers from distance are transitory? What exactly are you left with offensively?
If he had picture perfect mechanics that would be much less of a worry; but it seems every year players are over-valued because their college three point shot "just went in" but we find out later they can't cut it from distance in the NBA.
Admittedly there's every reason to be much more hopeful of Mikal's shooting outcome than most prospects coming into the league, but the massive advantage he had in college in terms of being able to shoot over opponents is going to be much less so in the NBA.

That's a very big take and while I respect your opinion, if both Bridges are there at 10 and the 76ers take the local boy in Mikal instead of Miles, I'm likely to be physically sick. Even if in reality I have both players only separated by 6 - 10 spots.

Mikal probably will have issues creating his own shot at the next level, but saying that he can't it's unfair to him, he has been good at it this year, playing in favorable conditions, but still

The only thing that worries me about my hot take is his confidence. He’s confident in his game, but he’s a timid type of person.

He didn’t really create his own shot anyway in college. He’s a kind of player that does well with ball-movement and getting open in the right spots on the floor.

Interesting. Kind of figured this was the case since he didn't do the combine measurements.
