utah has played like a top 3 team since gobert came back for good and they are getting something from exum now. i would not be confident in that matchup.

Well I don‘t believe in a deep playoff run for this team, so just bring on the Warriors in the first round and let‘s give them all we got. Which may not be a lot, honestly.

Edit Welp...

From the Jazz board, assuming they beat Memphis I think I'd rather play Utah than Portland. Ideally as the 4 seed (Utah beats GSW and loses to PDX). That's among the at least somewhat likely scenarios. I think 4 seed would help some to have home court. Really though just want them to play well and not worry about it. They're capable of losing to anyone (heck Memphis isn't a gimme).

Assuming this is the same data from the one I downloaded (looks the same) - they can't play Portland mathematically. If they beat Memphis, they're very likely going to play Utah, unless Utah loses both remaining games, then OKC will play the winner of NO/SAS.

That's my understanding anyways. They'll either play Utah as a 6th seed (Utah wins out), Utah as a 4th seed (Utah goes 1-1) or the winner of NO/SAS as a 5th seed (Utah goes 0-2).

I want us 7th. 6th is ok too if the Jazz are 3rd.

Just keep me the hell away from Portland and Houston.

From what I understand, we cannot play Portland in any scenario. I agree this is a good thing.

I think GSW is either impossible or close to it?

NBA PR released an official playoff probability graph today.

Possible but not likely. Utah would have to lose twice then the thunder would have to lose, and the spurs must win. Then we would play gsw.

Utah is up 39 on the warriors half way through the third. I really think we want no part of the jazz.

I'd still rather them than Portland I think.

Utah are much better than Portland based on SRS, net rating and current form and playing in Salt Lake City is always tough due to the altitude. Regular season head to head really doesn't mean much, especially given that you played 3 times in December when they were way worse than they are now and Gobert missed 2 of these games and IIRC wasn't 100% in the other one too (his second game back from his first injury this season and looking at the boxscore, he only had 2 FGA in 27 minutes).

If you can't get by a MASSIVELY overperforming Jazz, you don't have any business talking about contending in the Playoffs.

Utah isn’t massively overachieving, imo. They are legit good since they’ve been healthy. I think I heard they 30-5 in their last 35 games. That’s more than a hot streak. How Pillendreher feels about playing Utah is how I feel about Portland. I think they overachieved and are coming back down to earth.

I don't think Utah is going to be as bad of a matchup as others. Mitchell is going to struggle in his first playoffs, almost every guy does, gobert/Adams usually neutralize each other, and Rubio isn't going to keep shooting 50% from three. Also, depth is a large part of Utah's success, and it's somewhat mitigated in the playoffs.

That said, I don't know that we would be favored in any matchup and I think a first round win is about a 50/50 toss up against anyone but Houston. It really depends on which version of pg13 shows up.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.
