Are the wizards better without Ernie Grunfeld?

We blew so many god damn chances. It took effort to build a team with a pass first point and no big to finish in the paint. EG showed creativity twice (Sato and Oubre). We should have been in a better position to attract Durant. We should have been in a better situation to attract Aldridge and Cousins. We should have been the it team in the NBA, with the chances we were handed and blew. Gobert, Drummond, Giannis, Curry, Harden etc... Seriously, it’s a friggin’ tragedy we have a front office with such a lack of vision and balls.

I like Oubre, but I don't give EG much credit for getting him. The Wizards traded up to get him, and just about every player available at the spot the Wizards would have drafted have turned out to be just as good or better than Oubre.

I completely disagree with this statement. And I think, in time (give it two years), you’ll see an Oubre that’s close to All Star material. He’s fluid, smart, tough, tenacious and has the it factor. I have faith in him topping Beal eventually.

Agreed. Oubre has a couple of things going for him that most players do not. He's a perfect physical specimen for an NBA wing. He's hyper-athletic. He's got a great motor. He has a good shooting stroke with a quick, high release. And he has the ability to get a shot off almost whenever he wants to. (He doesn't make them all that much yet, but it's still a skill to get them up when closely guarded.)

He's a little behind the curve on some fundamentals. He doesn't have a great handle, his shot is streaky, and he doesn't make great decisions yet (at either end of the floor); but all of those deficiencies will improve a great deal in time. It may take him a couple more years than most to reach his peak, but his peak is gonna be good.
