SHRAGGY? Go back and get a bunch of people paid while you take all the risk and not get paid? or go top 10? hmmmm .....we are not really discussing this right? maturity , polished game? I LOOOOOVE me some Coach K but he has a long record of not really developing big men at a high success rate....he uses bigs as a backup plan to his scheme. NO ONE SHOULD EVER STAY TO HAVE FUN,POLISH THEIR GAME, JUST TO GRADUATE FROM THIS PONZI SCHEME CALLED THE NCAA. Go get yours because if you get hurt they wont give you your past dues..

It's...a more nuanced social issue than that. And throwing money at a kid isn't a cure all solution.

The world is filled with other kids who left, flunked out of the league, ended up broke and bitter with few options.

Undecuated, unemployed black men don't tend to do well in this society. A little extra time spent preparing for that spotlight and the expectations is not a bad idea.

In a weaker 2019 draft, he even has a shot to go higher and increase his earning potential, too.

I see your point but staying for year 3 does not get you a degree or a job. And if you are smart enough to recognize that staying in school may help better prepare you for the spotlight than you are probably smart enough to not blow the $10M+ that a top 10 pick is guaranteed. I own a small business and I will likely not clear $2M by the time I retire 20 years from now. If he just put away 100K he could finish his degree whenever his career is over. Or he could continue with online and summer classes while in the NBA.

Degree or no degree is a valid point. Staying helps guys develop their game further. Take a look at Kuzma. Would he have been this productive this early- if he had not stayed his full tenure? It could benefit him as a player. If the draft class is stronger next year then he should keep his decision and declare. If not no harm in staying and polishing his game. He comes from an excellent and renowned program.

A top 10 pick will likely be logging 18+ minutes over 82 game with NBA competition. College does not develop your game better than that. But sure, if you're projected to be a late 2nd round pick you will likely benefit from another year in college.
