I'm not saying Rubio can't be on a winning team, but.....

For the record, Utah is 11-15 without Gobert. Comparable to Minnesota's record without Jimmy Butler. Let's not act like Rubio is the sole reason why they're winning.

Gobert is clearly the best player in that roster. Rubio however helped to cover successfully for George Hill and covered most of the distance among Hayward and Mitchell (which is still big by advanced metrics).

No one ever said that. People said he couldn't be the starting PG for a playoff team. He is now. All he apparently needed was a shift of culture.

I think what he needed was simply better teammates. The 13-14 Wolves should have made the playoffs even though the West was insane that year. No other team Ricky played on had a shot at making the playoffs, unless you count last year's team with three 21-year old starters.

Those are probably the intangibles (Work ethic, Leadership, Hustle) that cover that. I mean Doc called him the head of the snake for Utah, I guess he just wasn't allowed to be the leader here last year. Not surprising considering Thibs won't shut up on the sidelines.

F**$ Ricky! He was easily replaced but unfortunately it should have been with Lowry. Or a cheaper option like Collison.

Still, very impressive improvement by Ricky.

Now adjust to FGA per 100, instead of per game.

And maybe include the better scorer and 3-pt shooter Jeff Teague, so we can share a laugh.

Thunder-Jazz is going to be one of my favorite series to watch after ours.

Can't wait to see how Ricky performs because we've all had the "Oh, they'll just dare him to shoot every playoff game" talk. Let's see if it happens since it's time for the big games.

I haven't gone thru the whole thread, so,

For all the Rubio debate, did anyone bring up D Mitchell?
He was a HUGE reason for them coming up. Nobody expected it from him, and the timing with Rubio was right.

But lets not give Rubio all the credit. Maybe Thibs style wasn't for him. Lets see what he's got on the big stage.

No one is trying to give Rubio all the credit for the Jazz being where they are. Gobert is the best player on their team, and Mitchell has had just as many great games as Ricky has. We're all just excited that Ricky is finally having some team success, despite many on this board and other places claiming he could never be part of a good team, with some saying he'd never make the playoffs.

And Ricky is still badly neutered by Utah's equal-opportunity offense and bigs that can't catch a bounce pass but, being a good player and team guy, he's found a way to fit in rather than trying to fit out.

Well said.

After the Wolves, watching the Jazz and Sixers is going to be the most fascinating thing about these playoffs IMHO.

Lorenzo Brown heads up the G-League first team; Amile is on the second.

Rubio looked pretty bad in GM1 vs OKC. He reminds of Marvin Williams the change in teams helped him a lot to get away from that 1st team who was hell bent on him being something he is not.

Lorenzo Brown played first playoff game for TOR. I always like his game, too bad he has not shown any improvement in 3pt shot.

We are the champions, my friend!

The only real issues with Rubio here were that he never had a good team around him and that he didn't reach fan expectations. He's still mostly the same guy playing the same role with Utah.

LOL, assists don't tell it all, but 5.3 assists leads me to think he didn't have the ball in his hands as much there.
