Washington and Sacramento's wins tonight just make last night and the night before that more upsetting.

what is going on in San Antonio with Kawhi?
they had a players only meeting, apparently trying to convince him to start playing. Have the doctors cleared him to play but he's just refusing? This is such a weird story especially considering it's the Spurs

It seems that his injury might not be as much a physical injury as is usually the case. He's unhappy and is not feeling the love for the Spurs organization. A hint is the Spurs are offering him more money. If he is unhappy with his money, he should never negotiate until he has the option to leave his team.

Would anyone here sign Kostas Antetokounmpo just based solely off his brother? That's moreless what he's asking teams to do after 2 college years, one RS'ed and one where he barely played and wasn't particularly impressive in the time he did get. He's kinda going the Seth Curry route, but I'd shamelessly draft him if he's still there late in the 1st round.

No. Kostas doesn't belong in the NBA...at least not for the next few years. Unlike in years past, there will be lots of NBA rotational talent at the end of the 2nd round. Blazers could actually use guys like Kelan Martin, Melvin Frazier, Javon Carter, Shake Milton, Kevin Harvey, Keita Diop, Bonga, etc...

Besides the Bucks, did anyone really believe his brother was an NBA ready player when they drafted him? I certainly don't remember that being said.

Well, I certainly had my doubts. Like his brother, Giannis started out at about 6'8" and 196lbs. But that year shot up to 6'11" and got up to 222lbs of lean muscle. He'd be a lot different of a player if he wasn't 7' and probably 240. No telling if his brother will have the same tools...

I guess for me, I'd rather take big swings on players once you start getting to picks as low as where the Blazers will be selecting at. Might as well see if lightning can strike twice. As always though, I trust Olshey's drafting prowess for whoever he wants to select.

Re: The NBENFANT Thread (NBA): 2017-2018 Edition!
I really have not see enough of the kid to really make a decision and he seems like the type of prospect you would really need to get into a workout to evaluate his potential. Check on his 'upload speed' so to speak and see if he can hit open shots from various spots on the floor.
He certainly seems to move well enough, he's got the same sort of long strides that made his brother so successful. One site is saying he had pretty good defensive and transition numbers so that would be a way for him to contribute early on. Weakness in the half court offense is certainly a correctable flaw.
I could see using a second rounder on him as a flyer but he is 2 years away from being 2 years away so I would need to ensure he has a good support/development system and the drive to improve, rather than just following in his brothers footsteps for some easy money. I do think some team is going to reach for him above where I think he should go (mid second) and I wouldn't want to get in that bidding war.

Certainly not faulting you for wanting to take a swing...and to be clear, I think he could eventually end up as a positive rotational player in the NBA...just not for a few years. Shoot, on potential alone I'd trade Layman for him right now in a heartbeat. That was such a terrible pick.
I was probably too harsh saying he wasn't an NBA player. I've only watched a bit of video on him. Outside of on-ball defense, there is nothing he does particularly well...but you're right, he could erupt in a year or two.

I just think without in-person scouting and pouring over hours and hours of tape, we're all just firing away blindly here when it comes to draft evaluation. Watching 10min of YouTube video doesn't really give anyone a great feel for if a player will translate to the NBA. We were all saying the same thing about Batum being 2 years from being 2 years and he was a starter Year 1, so who knows with these things really. Hell, even with all that scouting, there's a certain level of pure luck that goes into a player becoming anything in the NBA.
I would take the swing, but I also openly admit I'm coming at it from a wildly uninformed position. That's why I try to never get really all that up in arms over who the Blazers do and don't draft.
