Weltman (paraphrasing):
- Sorry to the fans who have dealt with this for 6 years, but we are going to do it right this time.
- If we can accelerate the process by finding a great young player in a trade, we will do it.
- Frank is a good coach, but was not a good fit for the stage of development that this team is in now
- First 2 years are about righting the ship. Showing the league that we are trending in the right direction. Once you get to this point, you are able to go after free agents and sell them on the team, living in FL..etc.
- A max player directly impacts a teams win/loss record
What this tells me :
- They will not be forced into winning now and get derailed like last time (thanks martins)
- They are open to trading for some young players with potential
- They want a coach who is willing to play a young roster and teach them how to win games instead of leaning on the 1 year vets they sign more for depth and lockeroom presence
- We will be bad next year, but it will most likely be watchable since we will have a coach that will play our young guys tons of minutes. In other words, we should have another top 5 pick.
- Weltman may let AG walk if he gets a max offer, or work a S&T.
My predictions:
We trade guys like Vuc and Evan if possible and try to get picks/young players in return.
We probably sign some more older guys to 1 year deals for depth, but they will not be played too much.

Too bad I was getting mad at meaningless wins. Could have had Doncic this year and Cam Reddish/RJ Barrett in '19.
They'll find away to screw the tank next season too. We'll draft Miles Bridges and some other lottery scrub next year.

MIles, from MSU? Because I mentioned Miles, not Mikal. Of course I would love to draft Mikal.

I’m hoping this rebuild actually follows through.
Letting AG walk could be a very real possibility if they feel like maxing him would hinder the rebuild. Finding a sign and trade would be ideal, but how likely I’m not sure.

I get a sense that if AG gets a max offer that Weltman will let him walk. Sure we will lose a massive asset but it would be better than tying up a max salary for a player none of us is sure will be more than a fringe All-Star.
Orlando Magic are BACK!!!

Isaac playing center at 200lbs?
Why would the Bucks want to take on Byimbo's contract instead of paying a much higher upside prospect like Parker similar money?
Bucks also giving up on one of their best young prospects in Brogdon for Simmons and filler?
None of that makes any sense to me. I understand we've had a rough few years here, but we cannot go this far into the deep end. Post this over on the Bucks forum and let us know their response.
I've asked Skin that a few times, and haven't got an answer. Just keeps skipping that question.
It's a S&T. I didn't realize that needed explaining.
But I've since bailed on the idea that MIL would take back Biyombo's $17M/yr, but maybe they would take Fournier in a S&T instead? Or Vuc...Simmons... etc in some kind of package.... Basically the S&T would have to equal the amount of the contract that Parker is signing for.

Re: Magic Off-Season
It's interesting. Weltman is basically saying they're going to take the long range approach and not sacrifice long term sustainability for short term success. That's basically what Hennigan was pulling for until he became pressed to get more wins. Not sure if Martins and ownership came to their senses or if Weltman is facing a similar course as Hennigan.

We get that it's a S&T. Parker will need to be signed. He'll want a lot of money. AG probably wants max. So the question we keep asking, is how do we pay AG $20 mill per and Parker, who will want $10-15 mill per. We get the sign and trade part. We don't get how we can afford that, while still paying one of EF/Biz $17 mill per.

If were to we do any S&T, then the incoming money from Parker's $15-20M dollar contract would mean that we need to send out the same amount of money. So the Bucks would have to take back Fournier or Bis or Vuc+Simmons.. etc etc.
We can easily sign AG without worry. Being our own RFA, we have his Bird Rights. We can go over the cap to sign him if necessary.

That decision should have already been made. If they were going to trade him it should have been at the deadline.
What they only want to pay him 17m, instead of 20m, a 3m difference? That doesn't make sense.
The guys progress has been a steady rise every year. They better not get cute and let him walk. That decision could make the Oladipo mistake look like a bag of chips five years from now.

In no way has AG displayed anything resembling the productivity of Oladipo in Indiana. Giving him the max is absolutely in question with the other contracts they are tied to.
