Spinning off Vandy's idea.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ybrwwcgy

Clippers get:
Cody Zeller (gives them a C after DeAndre Jordan expires)
Pick 11 (gives them 3 lottery picks)
Marvin Williams

Bulls get:
MKG

Hornets get:
Robin Lopez (expiring)
Tobias Harris (expiring)
Patrick Beverly (expiring)

2018-2019
Kemba - Beverly - Monk
Lamb - Monk
Harris - Batum
Kaminsky - Hernangomez
Dwight - Lopez - Hernangomez

2019 - 2020
Kemba (resign) - Beverly (resign) - Monk
Lamb (resign) - Monk
Batum - Bacon
Harris (resign) - Kaminsky
Kaminsky (resign) - Hernangomez

Hornets can let Dwight walk and have money for Kemba, Harris and Beverly plus Frank and Lamb.

For a lateral move. An expiring like Lopez would be a coupe.

What about MKG and 11 to the Knicks for Courtney Lee and 9

Knicks get a young wing and only move back 2 spots

Hornets start Lee and move Batum back to SF while jumping 2 spots

If Sexton or Young are still on the board the Knicks can't afford to trade back. They need a point guard.

That's true, but with Sexton, Young, and SGA, you would think they could have a chance at 11 of getting one. I also think with the coaching change, Nitilinka moves back to PG of the future. They are paying THJ starters money to be the starting SG

True but why trade away the best opportunity for their preffered target? They really screwed up last draft not taking Smith Jr. or Monk. They have no margin for error.

They really did screw up last year, that's for sure. However, a new coach, new system, new development may mean anything for Nitilinka. From the Hornets perspective, I like this deal

Nothing I have seen on here except the Knick idea, that I don't think they would do, has come close to being worth losing the 11. Using it to dump MKG or Marvin is just bad business because there is no guarantee that you can resign Kemba either way and so if he leaves now you are set even further back because you don't have as much young talent as you should.

The smart move going forward if the team decides not to move Kemba and rebuild is to plan as if he was going to leave after this season. If you scramble to make short sighted moves to keep him and he leaves it could kill the team for years. So if the goal is to keep Kemba here next season then make moves to win now but with a look at the future. Move pieces that you can for cheap to restructure around Kemba but Monk, Bacon and the pick should be off the table because those are your building blocks if Kemba bolts. Don't get caught up in something you can't control and cost yourselves years like the Nets did. A lot of the moves scream Pierce and Garnett to the Nets type deals with only the immediate season in mind which is part of what got us here in the first place. Trading for Beli or drafting Frank because there were more ready has lined us up here so we need to not repeat those mistakes.

I personally think a rebuild is in order because I am not sure you can win with this group next season and I am positive if you don't you will lose Kemba for nothing which is terrible. I would see what the best offer of youth and picks is for Kemba and if it meets what would be my minimum threshold I take it a get moving on the rebuild.

Unless we trade multiple future unprotected firsts, we're not going to get stuck like the Nets did.

Or do the dumb thing and trade our pick this year and let him walk for nothing after we stink again. I mean that is always an option.

We have his Bird Rights. It's unlikely. It's always dumb to trade late lotto picks huh? Haha. Tell us why.

It is highly likely with your plan. If we make another poor trade like you would like and stink again for a year he will move on because he wants to win. Sure we can sign him but he has to want to be here which isn't likely at all if we make dumb moves to dump not so bad contracts. IF we had a good enough pick to truly get a difference making player it would be to good to trade just to dump a salary. Better to be smart and plan for the future rather than live in the past.

Is it dumb to turn a late lotto pick into an upgraded starter? What kind of player would you need returned to consider it smart?

There has to be a way to finesse a trade where we get Julius Randle or Jabari Parker. Not many teams are gonna have cap space and definitely not the kind of money they want.

Alec Burks is a interesting guy to try to trade for if we’re looking to get out of MKG’s contract.
