In a vacuum trading Kemba for Kawhi would seem like a good deal but would be a bad when you consider all things.

I completely forgot about that quote. To me makes Kawhi a legit target for us via a Kemba trade.

Kemba + Batum for Kawhi + Mills.

I think I’d rather keep Batum before that deal.

We got a new coach coming in that’ll play Batum to his strengths (SF/PF) and likely bench him when he’s not playing well. Batum may be useful instead of the trash he’s been under Clifford.

Oh man, Tobias is 25 and hits 40% on his threes. Plus the Hornets would have room to retain him with Batum gone. Move Batum for a potential all-star while only paying a late lotto pick? We could get rid of Batum and add a #2 scorer.

Although I would love to see Harris coming here and Batum leaving, I can't understand why, despite the fit, the Spurs would take Batum's contract out from our hands. If they are trading Kawhi, they are doing it for a chance to a fast rebuild, and adding 3 picks at the end of the lottery and an albatross of a contract won't help them with that. They would be stuck in the 8th/7th position at best. I think that, if they have to move him, it would be for a pick which is at least top-3.

True, he has some highly concerning makeup issues going on, something in his head not his body. He's in his physical prime but there's risk there. He wants to be in LA. He thinks he'd feel happy there. Thats why the Clippers think they have a shot. He obviously wants to escape Pop. I think three lotto picks (11 +12 + 14) plus Nic Batum is a fair price. Nic fits Pop's style well. He just looks like a Spur. Aging, slow, great team play, gets the job done, high IQ, Euro style like Parker and Ginobli. Three late lotto picks feels little light but the Spurs draft well and hopefully they like this draft. Also Kawhi has sparked recent concerns that damage his value. No GM is going to pay the farm for him and give up a top 3 guy, not knowing why this guy is having such a hard time finding the court. So yeah, if we can turn SGA or Knox into Tobias Harris, using Nic's money to lock up Harris in his prime, giving Kemba a #2 scorer? Don't overthink that please.
