Sorta.

I don't like them mainly because I don't like their entire...aura, mascot whatever they have going on. I hate when we play there and I have to look at their floor for 3 hours. They don't have any players I enjoy watching or have enjoyed watching over the years.

Clippers have a Dodger like quality about them where I hated our playoff "rivals" until I realized we would choke against practically anybody (OKC, Houston). So I'm more focused on our franchise than hating others now.

Did the Grizzlies eliminate the Clippers in the playoffs a few years ago?

Yes, in 2013.

We beat them in 7 games in 2012.
They beat us in 6 in 2013 after Griffin's landed on Lamar's foot in practice before Game 5 with the series tied 2-2.

Maybe Memphis thinks he who laughs last, laughs best...and they did make a WCF.
I still hold our Game 7 win in their house with more regard.

Well, we have college ball this year to look forward to. Good showing at Barclays for the guys!

I'm honestly a little disappointed that we couldn't beat Texas A&M. I know they are the better team but I would have loved to get a huge win like that early in the season. I do like what I'm seeing from this Nittany Lion team. I did expect this to be the year the team would win some.

Conference Finals For Chris Paul CONFIRMED

Since 1984, when the NBA playoffs expanded the pool to 8 teams, 1st seeded teams in the western conference alone are 27-6 (0.818) in reaching the conference finals or beyond. Only three times in NBA history has the 1st seed in the west succumb to an 8th seed (0.090).

In the east, it's different: 30-3 (0.909) with only two 8th seeded upsets (0.060).

Combined, it's 57-66 (0.863) for getting out of the 2nd round and 5-66 (0.075) for 8th seeded upsets.

I'm kinda sad that the season is over. However, I'm impressed with how Penn State played in the NIT and I won't feel as bad if Tony Carr decides to declare for the NBA draft. We should have some good seasons ahead.

Penn State!!!!!
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I was shaky midseason but Carr was really improved late year. I think he returns, personally I like Reaves in next years draft too as a 3 and D guy.

Any news on if the Clippers are going back to Hawaii? I got an email a few weeks ago saying the Stan Sheriff Center plans on doing a couple games. So I'm curious if the Clippers or Lakers will be the team.

Clippers. Ballmer would like to make it permanent, I reckon.

Clippers to return to Hawaii for training camp next season

Professional basketball is returning to Hawaii for a second consecutive year after the Los Angeles Clippers decided to once again host their preseason training camp in the Islands.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority on Saturday said the professional basketball franchise will travel to Honolulu in late September to prepare for the 2018-19 NBA season on the campus of the University of Hawaii.

"This marketing partnership is ideal for both of our futures,” HTA Vice President of Marketing and Product Development Leslie Dance said in a statement. “The Clippers are one of the NBA’s hottest teams with a growing fan base in Hawaii and across the Pacific, and the Hawaiian Islands is a favorite destination for travelers from Southern California.”

...

The HTA last year said it has an option to renew the partnership with the Clippers for three years.

"It's not meant to be a one-off. It's meant to establish something that we can look forward to every year," Dance said.

I may make a trip out there. Clippers aren't my team, but it depends on what team they face if it's intriguing enough to go.

Definitely think it's a good idea to play a couple games each preseason to bring some interest in Hawaii.

Green-Eyed Monster in Milwaukee (Shades of BG & CP3) *UPDATED*

Post#817 » by Ranma » Fri Apr 20, 2018 6:12 pm

The problem with entitled man-babies is that, instead of taking it as a challenge to up their games, they sulk and pout to the detriment of both their teams and themselves only proving they weren't that great to begin with. I'm looking at you, Blake Griffin. Remember, how Scottie Pippen elevated himself to an all-time great playing with Michael Jordan or how Tracy McGrady proved himself to step out of Vince Carter's shadow. There were always question marks with Jabari Parker and he's only proven those concerns to be legitimate.

It's also troubling to hear that Eric Bledsoe seems content to coast more often now that he has his big contract when he was constantly going all out as a Clipper trying to prove himself. Mini LeBron not really living up to the moniker. Add Doc into that combustible situation and you'll see a blow-up that could lead to Giannis Antetokounmpo eventually making his way out of Milwaukee as a free agent.

Thoughts on NBA Playoffs

Post#818 » by og15 » Tue Apr 24, 2018 6:40 am

In terms of the playoffs, watching Westbrook vs Utah makes me realize how good Chris Paul really was on this team. Taking that into account Griffin being out after 2.5 games, the non-existent Redick, injured Rivers, DJ being the teams second option, Paul put up 25/5/10 on 50/37 shooting and willed the Clippers to two wins without Griffin (Blake didn't participate in the second half of the second win). The Jazz are better and healthier (in the post-season) team this season, but the health issues were a problem for both teams, and not having Griffin at all was a bigger health problem. The Thunder have far more talent than a Griffin-less Clippers, actually technically they should be more talented than the Clippers with Griffin. Paul-Westbrook, Griffin-George, Redick-Carmelo, Jordan-Adams, and yet, not only are they playing worse, Westbrook is performing at a far inferior level individually despite having more help. Also, according to at least some Clippers fans, Doc is the worst coach in the league and has been for a couple of seasons, so coaching isn't the difference either.

Paul wasn't/isn't the guy to carry a team to a championship without another guy consistently as good or even better than him, but Westbrook without Durant, at least so far, and unless something changes this series is proving that he is possibly even less of that type of player. Having a super efficient and high volume scoring guy like Durant to make up the efficiency difference, which allowed Westbrook to contribute in other areas and allowed his efficiency inconsistency to still allow for high wins and playoff success. Still, we all remember than on their finals run, Russ was the third best player vs SA, and I believe Parker even outplayed him, but a series isn't won by one individual matchup, and Harden and Durant tore up the Spurs.

EDIT: Not just Westbrook, add Lillard to the mix, though with a slight pass due to injury. Westbrook can't break down the Jazz defense and create good shots. Lillard doesn't know how to adjust when a team starts double teaming the pick and roll, despite the injury and still can't impact on defense. These guys have CJ McCollum and Paul George as their partners, much better starting perimeter guys compared to anything the Clippers had. One gets swept shooting 35/30 and averaging just 18.5 ppg, and the second could be backdoor swept in 5 games and so far is shooting 37/21. We complained because Paul didn't take every shot down the court or because he would have one bad game in a series.

Love how time is telling the truth on Westbrick.

Basically lived through 3-4 years of, "if you put Westbrick on the Clippers in place of CP3, they're going to the finals".
LOL, ok.

And....stay away from Paul George this offseason. I don't want ages 28-33 of a co-star if I'm not sure I have anybody coming that's going to be in the starring role. Let him go awkwardly fit in with the Lakers' young guys.
