Plausible deniability in case the rare event he gets re-injured.

That for sure. I might have went a bit far. Had a big bowl of chili earlier.

If we go all the way to the finals will he still need to wear the mask?

Hopefully he at least gets to the point where he can ditch the goggles.

I would think it depends on if he’s healed enough by then to discard it without farther damage.

Well, yeah. I know that. Lol

I just am asking if it is typical that people with these types of injuries need to wear it for as long as 4 weeks, 6 weeks or 8 weeks or whatever.

Hard to eliminate Embiid because of his perimeter game.

You need to put whiteside in the game, yet you hurt yourself on offense because that means Biid stays in the paint to provide elite rim protection. If Biid shoots his 3s like tonight, then you hurt yourself on both ends.

I like how he didnt force things in the paint and focused on his perimeter game when he has trouble operating in the paint.

doubtless, the goggle/mask set-up is irritating, but man it sure seemed to do the job. Whiteside smacking him in the face, other guys getting there hands in there, Winslow tromping on them. looks like pretty solid protection there. we good.

So Pompey asked Embiid how long he had to wear it and he said 8 weeks, but I wonder if he meant 8 weeks after surgery, which would mean more like 5-6 weeks from now.

Embiid eyes area did look a little at the end of the game when he was on the bench. Hopefully that’s from
The mask irritation and nothing more.

He was rusty especially offensively. But I’ve said we don’t need embiid to score a single point on offensive. His presence on defense prevented a lot of Miami drives to the rim like they had game 2.

This playoff series Miami has feasted on us in the paint. In the 30 minutes BigJo played, they scored only 6 points in the paint.

**** Legend.

I know that he has to wear the mask for the rest of the playoffs, but I wonder if the goggles can be taken off earlier.

Embiid was terrible today on offense. What happened to him wanting to play within the offense and not disrupt the flow. Wish he would play as a better version of Amir til he shakes off the rust.

He can’t see. It’s the goggles. It’s not Embiid’s fault.

The mask, time missed, and the fact that Miami has been extra physical with him should be a dead giveaway for ya. I wouldn't be too hard on him. This series goes a grueling 7 games that we possibly lose without him.

We wouldn’t win the last 2 games without him. Even with his terrible offense today, we definitely needed his presence on defense. He made a big difference there and it helped us win a big game today.

Yes. Embiid was terrible on offense. But the defense was fantastic. Forget the 5 blocks (6 if u count the bogus foul on wade’s attempt he squatted away). Embiid is just the ultimate rim protector. He altered so many shots. And stats that don’t even show up are the times the heat had to think about driving the lane.

Embiid was the difference maker on defense.

For his 8 turnovers and 2 for 11 shooting. He still has 13 free throw shots.

So a F game from Embiid on offense and A game on defense. Sixers don’t win the game without embiid.

I dont disagree. But there was a big news story about him talking to JA saying he didnt want plays called for him and he just wanted to play within the offense - he was fine in Game 4. But today he had his vendetta against Whiteside/Adebayo trying to go 1v1 most times down the court. Not to mention his YOLO dribbling into traffic + his butterfingers in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

I get that the mask sucks and he’s rusty... so just wishing he would let the game come to him and focus on defense and rebounding (ie Super Amir role) until he’s 100%... but thats probably not in his alpha personality.
