Round 1 Game 4: Warriors (2) vs. Spur (7)

Post#1 » by Nolan » Sun Apr 22, 2018 3:41 pm

When: 1:30 PM MT, April 22nd 2018
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio TX

Well we're down three nothing and its not looking good. It would be nice to steal a game and send the home crowd off with a win but i'm not expecting that. This has been a rough week for us and just a rough season overall.

Lets put up a fight and go Spurs go!!

We don't have enough scoring like I have been saying. This should be it today.
I see people on other forums starting up again about "this could be Manu's last game!" Settle down and stop trying to push him out the door again like you did last year please. He is signed for next year and he had a great season. He will be back next year.

Now the guy who could be playing his last game is Tony Parker. I wouldn't mind having him back as a bench player but will he accept playing for 2-3 million, similar to a Ginobili contract? I think he would have a better year next year with a full summer of conditioning coming off his injury.

Its kind of sad. I know Parker was kind of a dick at times but everyone is all sentimental about Manu possibly retiring while no one says anything about Parker.

I feel both Manu and Tony will be back. Manu's had his best season in the last several, he obviously is helpful on and off the court, is on a ridiculously reasonable contract for next year, and Tony has said in interviews that he's already been discussing his goals with PATFO, and presumably there's an understanding of a similar legacy-type of contract that Timmy and Manu have been on.

Thinking of you, Pop...

I doubt it's Tony's last game. he's said that he wants to play another 2 to 3 years. No ones talking about it because no ones expecting like we are with Manu, once Tony's time comes it'll get real sentimental!

Can't say enough about Manu and LMA plus Rudy Gay gutting it out. Mills tried to give it away a few times but we had just enough offense and they were just off enough to get a game. Woo!!!

We all know that barring an unprecedented spate of GS injuries and a complete change of heart from Kawhi-- all within the next 48 hours--, the Spurs probably aren't winning this series and it likely ends Tuesday. But this was one for corporate pride and for the honor of the Spurs way, and most importantly, it's a fitting-if-altogether-inadequate tribute to Mrs. Pop and a sliver of sunlight to brighten Pop's eyes, if only for a moment.

People talk about The Mamba Mentality, and rightly so, but I'd like to see The Gino Gene discussed more.

when kawhi was a fa and same time as parker, i think he shouldve ask front office is parker going to still be on the team after what he has done whether its trying to make someone a cuck or being selfish on the court with the heroball, guess kawhi has learnt his lesson...

now if parker is back for another loyalty contract, i guess kawhi is leaving....why would he play with him after what he has said about kawhi in the media, jealous mofo who coatride or career extended cause kawhi came along ... ungrateful team mate

I'm so proud of how we played today, starting determined and staying resilient and finishing strong. This game more than any other (Game 3 was just too much to take in too soon) was about so much more than basketball; so many players interviewed post-game said that this was about winning for Pop, staying connected to him and each other in a difficult time. Those bonds have been tested and strengthened by the tests all year long. No one could have predicted they'd be so crucial for so much beyond the game.

Our bench was shortened, our D was stingy, our shooting was crazy efficient (45.7%FG and 15-28 for 53.6% from the 3 :o. Oh, and welcome back, Kyle's shot!) this in a win-or-go-home game. LMA (22/10), and Rudy (14/7/2 steals/2 assists) were helped by good performances by the rest of the starters, and Manu (16/3/tied with Patty for team-high 5 assists) - our second leading scorer behind LMA - led the way from the bench to the history books. They're being rewritten just about every time he plays, but his presence and clutchness - 10 of his 16 points came in the fourth - to seal the win, to dedicate it to Pop, to make sure that all of the support and mentoring Pop has given is now continuing to be reciprocated to him in such a difficult time was felt on the court and beyond.

We know Tony's return next year is highly likely, and one more reason besides the ones we mentioned why I think Manu will also return is to help support Pop. In all his interviews, Manu connects to him as if presenting the games as a thread that binds and helps keep them focused on the task at hand, playing for a bigger purpose, and lets Pop know they're with him.

Those relationships among the three of them, forged through years of battling and being there for each other, will be all the more important going forward.

I love that we didn't just lay down in the second home game (with this win, we officially never had more than a four-game losing streak all season). I love what our team brought today, I love that Tony stepped up last game when Manu struggled; I love that Manu stepped up today to the necessity and dignity of the moment, playing the right way as Pop has taught for so long. I love our team.

We're with you, Pop, thinking of you, sending warm thoughts to you and yours  Spurs Family
