Positional Stair Step (00s to now) - Draft thread

Post#1 » by Dr Positivity » Mon Apr 23, 2018 1:16 am

Draft rules:

1. Subject to the rules to be set out below, players from the 1999-2000 season to the 2017-18 season will be available to be drafted. You can draft players that came into the league before 2000 but the season you choose can't be before 1999-2000

2. Beginning in the second round, each player you select must be be within one position up or down of the player you selected in the previous round as listed at the top of their profile page in Basketball Reference. If he has more than one position, all of of the previous player's positions apply. For example while if you draft a straight Shooting Guard you can only draft a Point Guard, Shooting Guard or Small Forward with the next pick, if he is listed as both a Shooting Guard and Small Forward, you are able to draft a Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Small Forward or Power Forward with the next pick. Therefore the extra value of taking multiple position players to increase your options with the next pick is part of the strategy.

3. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations.

4. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected.

5. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 85.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.

6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA

7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to myself or another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.

8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT. The clock will begin on Monday, April 23rd at 6 PM ET unless a full round has been completed by then.

9. Draft order will be completely randomized.

10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet.

11. The winner of the draft will be determined by a rankings followed by a four-team playoff tournament.

Team Roster Page Rules:

1. You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 85.0 FGA

-All of the above must be completed before playoffs begin.

The draft order is:

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

This feels like the right pick. 3 positions while not sacrificing on talent.

Kevin Garnett

I'll probably regret this, but he's fun, can be built around in a number of ways, and covers all five positions for round two. Doesn't feel like he's too far of a reach talent-wise.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

I really can’t allow this guy to slip, with the way he’s been playing lately.

So I really wanted Kobe. Oh well, I think this guy has similar offensive production, although much lower defense.

But he certainly picked it up on that end this year as well.

James Harden

The value here is too good to pass up. Some elite playmaking on this squad.
