I’ve changed my mind on Exum as well, handle is too loose and I don’t think he’s ever going to get the confidence to run an offence properly.

Solid defender with good athleticism and length, but still looks like a scared kid out there

If only we hired Quin Snyder instead of Mike Dunlap. The more I think about these things the more below average I view Cho as a GM. Whether he couldn’t seal the deal on Snyder desperate for his first NBA head coaching opportunity or passed up on him Cho just didn’t get the job done.

The Cho hire set us back as much as anything. Coming from Portland, he was a supporter of Batum. He missed on picks. Seeing Mitchell leading Utah to a 3-1 lead with 33 points, after being called out for shut down by Westbrook, highlights that mistake in drafting.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

How many second round picks and discarded or undrafted guys do you expect to work out?

Honestly given that he had three full seasons to experiment and mine for talent and tons of cap space to do it so he could cut and cycle through guys and still be way under the cap, I would expect finding more than one rotation worthy player.

I get your points, but it still feels underwhelming to me. This idea that he found players that would fight and claw is totally bogus to me though, since those guys aren't good enough to play.

He found three guys who get at least 15 minutes a game during the regular season and one is a starter on a high quality playoff team. I would much rather be terrible for three years to be good for multiple years than just be bad for eternity like we are right now. They built right and as much as people like to blame them or say they are ruining the league this is the new way to do things in a league with a complete lack of parity. You need stars to win and the most likely way to get them by a long shot is to draft high in the draft.

And the Sixers move on to the second round.

They really need to build some Charlotte style culture

Wasn't it Higgins who hired Dunlap after watching a St. Johns practice or something? Was either him or Cho. I can't remember.

It was Higgins. But my point still remains valid because I feel like Cho was unable to seal the deal or make the better candidates feel comfortable about the offer. Both Dunlap and Clifford appear to be candidates that were hired because the top candidates weren’t interested. Feel free to go back and put a emphasis on ‘appear’ before I get accused by Yosemite of saying that this is factual and true.

The situation the Spurs are in right now is really interesting. They either agree to give Kawhi Leonard his long-term max contract or they trade him and commit to what would likely be a quick rebuild. Will Pop stick around in either scenario? And if not who is the heir apparent? Is it Messina or Udoka? Or is it someone else like Ginobli?

They're at a big inflection point as an organization. I think it's pretty damn astute that we have inquired into the situation as early as we have because whatever happens some in the organization are likely going to be ready to move on. And we've made it obvious that we're ready and waiting with the checkbook open should anyone want an opportunity. If the Spurs decide to rebuild I wouldn't be surprised if we bring in more than just Messina/Udoka from the Spurs.

I think we'll be more likely to get Messina if the Spurs decide to trade Kawhi and go for a rebuild. In that scenario it would make more sense for them to go with the guy whos entire career has been groomed through their organization. Messina will probably be looking for a win now situation and has his own ambitions beyond just the Spurs organization.
