What was the plan to accomplish that? Serious question.

Gaines was really high on Mitchell, but they felt 8 ws too high at that time. So Phil was trying to get a second lotto pick to draft Mitchell. He was talking to Portland about taking on one of their contracts for their pick and then try to use that pick to move up like the Jazz did to get the Nuggets pick. For whatever reason we couldnt do it. They also looked into any deals that made sense to trade down from 8 to get Mitchell as well.

That is inexcusable! How can 8 be too high for Mitchell but good enough for Ntilikina? I suspect Phil was asleep during those workouts. It just doesn't make sense how you can pick a player who doesn't have a half of Mitchell's talent and skill. You simply cannot make mistakes like that! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I hope he bounces back in game 5 as I will continue rooting for him, but damn It's been a frustrating season for him to say the least.

That and westbrook letting Rubio punk him all series has been quite embarrassing. He should have left years ago. I feel for Melo but It's his own fault that this is happening. Put all his chips in an age 33 season was maybe not the brightest idea basketball wise.

So, who else is now beating their head on their keyboard until numb for seeing Donovan Mitchell balling? Knicks passed on this dude, BTW.

Lol. Controlling if the ball goes in is literally an offensive player's job.

And yes, constantly bringing up how much of a mistake of not drafting Mitchell has got really annoying. It's in the past, and we can't do anything about it now.

If someone knew for a fact that he would develop like this, they'd be in an NBA front office as the highest paid executive in the league and perhaps telling people the next winning lotto ticket.

Signing Noah and giving a no trade clause to Melo obviously.

Screamin A is sad this morning now that he's realized Melo's cooked and old and playing terrible.

Guys, until the Knicks are 1 piece away from a title, free agents will stay away.

Only 33 yet moves like he's 53. I never seen a "HOFer" drop off like that.

So did 13 other teams... it is what it is. And if you look closely at his numbers this year it wasn't like he was the second coming.... He was simply more productive than your average rookie guard. He's still very much a volume scorer at this point in time. He will be a great player down the line IMO but let's just hold our horses for a second..

actually I liked how he got to the rim and got his shot off the entire series. he just doesn't make the shots or the layups.
