Bogi torn Meniscus
Announced today. Getting surgery in NYC. They are calling it minor but no knee surgery is really minor. Yet another reason why the 'play Bogi every minute possible on a team that's supposed to be tanking' plan made no sense at all. Especially considering he played all last summer.

One silver lining if any is that the Bogi we saw towards the end of last year wasn't really representative of who he is as a player.
Now the key is getting him rest/healthy for next season. Knowing Vlade/Joerger he's gonna play 30 minutes a night in summer league. Oh boy.

It's something players usually play through anyway, nothing major here I don't think unless they discover something else. The debridement is done so it can heal.

You're blowing this out of proportion, it is not a big deal. Also, there's no chance Bogi plays in summer league, what would be the point?

He’s most likely going to make a full recovery and it won’t be an issue, but why he played the minutes, and the fact that it could even potentially lead to recurring stuff are at issue.
Being a fan of this team.. Nothing has been going right.. It’s getting sick. We need some changes and things to start to go our way

I'd just say be a little skeptical when you hear a team talk about a players' surgery being 'minor' or a 'clean-up'. Knee surgeries often down the road lead to more knee surgeries (kyrie a recent example). Hopefully Bogi will be fine.
Personally i don't wanna see Bogi, Fox, Willie or Buddy play in summer league. I'm on the fence about Fox but he was our starting point guard for over 60 games last year. It's always discouraging when some of your best players are playing in summer league and the team is still losing.
The guys i'm most excited to see in Summer League: Harry, first round pick, JJ, Mason, Jakarr, Nigel, Cooley and Skal. Skal was so late to learning the game that the more actual basketball game action he can be involved in the better.

I feel that you and kingjawn are being incredibly melodramatic with the state of things right now. This is common and not really a big deal at all. You really think that if the same training staff and front office that held Harry Giles out all year were to find anything at all with Bogdan that could lead to serious issues down the road wouldn't have acted on it? This team is built for the future and not the near future. I know we've had 10+ years of misery but we've got to be patient. This team shouldn't be fighting for a playoff spot until 2020 or 2021 at the earliest.

Bogdan, Buddy and Willie have 0% chance of playing summer league. Willie didn't play last year why would he play this year? It's possible Fox plays and I personally would like to see him play, he's a 20 year old developing point guard that needs all the court time he can get. Holding him out of summer league would be bad for his development in my opinion.

What’s common? Slight meniscus tears? They didn’t have that info because they didn’t perform the MRI. Him playing 30 minutes a night, when tanking competitors were finding excuses to give the Caboclos 25 minutes every night is controversial

It's kind of idiotic that they played him so much down the stretch...especially with him wearing down right in front of their eyes after playing all year round. He was obviously no where near the player he was earlier in the year. Even if it was just fatigue and not a knee, why play him?
I'll say it again...while Bogi should be ok for training camp no knee injury is 'nothing'. This may mean his minutes will need to be monitored a little more closely next season.

We'd all probably be surprised at how many times players have procedures done and we don't hear about it. I remember years ago after the micro fracture nightmares started happening in the NBA and then we found out that many players had the same thing done, some multiple times, prior to college or the NBA and they went on to long successful careers.
I agree there is no reason to see any of those players in summer league with the exception of Fox. Willie moved on from SL already so I doubt he is even in a list of possibilities.

Especially now he will be limited this summer when he should have been working on key skills like his step back. Key Question: who knew and who is the idiot that approved playing him.

Re: Bogi torn Meniscus
I doubt that anyone, even Bogi, knew his meniscus was torn. Regardless, it just doesn't make sense that he was out there in the first place.
Another negative of this whole thing: while it's unlikely he'd be traded, any blockbuster that the Kings theoretically could have been working on involving Bogi is probably now on pause. While the surgery was deemed minor, his trade value took a 'minor' hit with the news he's getting cut open.

He’s not getting traded. Teams would be wary of his health, but I also think he’s not a known name yet or valued across the league as the Kings value him

Their must have been some discomfort. They don’t perform MRI’s and subject your body to radiation for no reason.
The question I would have is when did this discomfort become known and to whom?

Kings announced Bogi won't do any basketball activities for next 2-2.5 months. That puts him back to playing basketball mid July. Hardly no big deal. Let's just hope there are no lingering effects down the road.

FTFY
It’s just a meniscus repair. Better to be safe than sorry with recovery time on a leg surgery. This is a common recovery time frame and common cleanup surgery. It’s alright man. Stop blowing things out of proportion.

That will prevent him somewhat from working and perfecting his step back move. He still will have July/August but less than ideal. Clearly should have been shut down a month ago

Yes. He clearly hit a wall mid season, and didn’t have his legs for a lot of the season. Hopefully he comes back at full strength. I hope he also chooses to take it easy with the national team if it’s going to take a toll on him, for the teams sake, but I guess the team can’t stand in the way of that stuff

Re: Bogi torn Meniscus
This really isn't a big deal. Look at the positive in it, this surgery ensures Bogi will get plenty of rest so other parts of his body will be great come training camp.
As far as SL goes, I highly doubt any of the ones that have been mentioned will play except for Fox and yes he should be playing and they should be focusing on a PnR offence with Fox & Skal/Giles. Don't worry about the others, they aren't the core future, but those 3 could be.
