If Kawhi Leonard is missing time with San Antonio because he "is undergoing specialty treatment and rehab for severe degenerative tendinopathy in NY" and it is "recommended to continue that regimen without interruption", then why should he risk endangering his long-term health for a token gesture? Now we don't know if that is exactly why he has been out, but given his extended absence, it would explain his stance on the matter.
The exact nature of his condition might make him a prohibitive proposition to pursue in trade in the off-season or free agency in the following year after that, but whether he's making an appearance in light of the death of Popovich's wife doesn't really change the situation one way or the other given what has transpired to this point and the revelation from the tweet mkwest cited.
Edit: Ralph chimes in on the matter with the proper perspective.
