CAVS PLAYOFF RUN

Post#1 » by Stillwater » Fri Apr 27, 2018 2:39 pm

HOW FAR WILL THE CAVS GO IN THE PLAYOFFS THIS SEASON GIVEN WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN SO FAR?
Naturally I think we are much better than most do. I have us winning it all despite the odds being against us
given the slow progressions of role players thus far. Most will disagree trying to be reasonable and expecting the worst.

I have us going to the finals, I see players stepping up vs Raps and Philly, but Rockets and especially Warriors are just too good imo.

I think it will be Houston and I like our chances if we get that far because it will mean we have come together over the course of the next 2 series'. Obviously if we do not progress we won't even make it to the finals imo in fact would guess we don't get out of the semi's without the improvement, but believe this roster has what it takes to get to that level pretty fast.

Flirting with a first round exit was not anticipated
But , the physicality and lack of calls on the Pacers has made it more difficult to be surprised by the outcome of our failure to get back on defense , inability to hit open shots and protect the ball from turnovers.
Lue has also failed miserably not utilizing Osman's energy in favor of vets.
I give us a 50% chance of winning this series if Hill remains out and a 70% chance if he plays.
I give us a 60% chance if Osman plays more than garbage time even without Hill.
But if we can't protect the ball it's over

If we can play like we did in the 4th in game 7 we can get out of the semi's in 6 despite Raptors depth.
If we don't take care of the ball it will take 7.

If Lue sticks to the same type of lineups they are going to lose this series 4-1 or 4-2. I want to see Osman/Zizic get a few minutes if the likes of Hood, Nance Jr don’t bring the effort. TT showed effort on Sunday and I hope he continues that pace to push others on the bench

I see us going down in 6 to the Raptors. The role players just aren't good enough this year. Along with the obvious Kyrie, we sorely miss guy like Frye, the JR of old, and even Shump. Those guys were deadeye Raps killers. We don't have the same explosiveness from three anymore.

Clarkson, Hood, JR, and Love will absolutely fold under the pressure in my opinion. Hill is banged up and I'm worried he won't be aggressive enough. Green straight up sucks.

We have Korver as our reliable flamethrower from three and LeBron who's running out of gas day by day. Finally Lue making things as hard as possible with his clueless rotations.

I don't agree the role players are not good enough, however if you mean are not experienced enough in playoff setting, I'd say round 1 took care of that and they will continue to improve. If they don't I think between LBJ Love Swish KK and to a lesser degree Hood and Hill offensively we have enough provided we protect the ball and continue with the same defensive intensity we are proven capable of already. That being said TT and Nance have to be productive and it certainly wouldn't hurt to give Osman some minutes in this series. I don't have a lot of confidence in Jose or JG but both are also serviceable and have playoff experience etc. I don't see Zizic getting any minutes and Clarkson has struggled so probably won't get much run

If we somehow make it to game 7 Lebron ain’t losing that one. But yeah a loss in 6 or 5 seems logical.

I still expect us to win tomorrow for no good reason. The team is not what is was

Not surprised on the lack of confidence in this core or the frustrating fact that neither rookie gets pt even though others have struggled etc,but the overall picture is much more positive imo.
Example:
I hate watching Clarkson trying to score in the last 10 seconds of the shot clock because he forces it and usually comes up empty, but give him 15-20 seconds and he finds a gap and gets to the rack and scores ,he is the only non starter we have that can consistantly get his own shot and despite the lack of ability as a team player could be a vital part of our success in this series.
Most people just see careless over dribbling

This team is getting it together at the right time, would not be shocked if we get out of the east with this roster. Obviously GSW or HOU will be the best offensive teams we have faced and require another level of defense that I'm not sure anyone believes we can sustain for an entire series , but given the magnitude of such a moment I think we would step up and give ourselves a better shot than the odds would suggest.

So apparently hood refused to enter the game in the fourth quarter. Doing lies job for him thank god. Just need homeless Kyrie to do the same

This isn't good for the locker room. I suspect Hood was salty for falling out of the rotation and so I don't blame him for it, but at the same time refusing to enter the game is chickenchit. He needs to play better so it comes as no surprise he fell out of it, but there is no reason to think he can't be a solid offensive option for the rest of the playoffs and maybe this will get him more focus'd on team instead of self.

With an upcoming match against Boston, I expect a finals appearance, however, Golden State and Houston will be tough for Cleveland. I will hope the Cavs knock either off them off. This will solidify LBJ as the second best of all time in my opinion behind MJ. Sorry Kobe fans, Kobe ain't no LeBron. LeBron is the better and more efficient player.

For as long as Lebron has been dominant I don't think anyone can really argue MJ is the GOAT at this point other than number of championships.
Cavs have already proven most people wrong in these playoffs, so it wouldn't surprise me if they won the championship this year regardless of how good the Western teams look.

Cleveland sure as hell deserves it, a LeBron James team is a team you can never underestimate.
