This is funny. We were a “Round 1 Loser” for passing on Jackson:

Green Bay traded down and ended up with Louisville's Jaire Alexander, while Minnesota stayed put and got UCF's Mike Hughes at No. 30. Neither corner should have gone ahead of Jackson, the Iowa prospect who wasn't taken in Round 1. Alexander has more flair, but Jackson is more well-rounded. Hughes might be limited to slot duty, while Jackson has more immediate starting ability outside. Jackson would fit the Colts early in Round 2.

The difference is neither was a reach while most of the others were. I had a feeling Jaire was meant to be the slot corner and we would go either Josh Jackson or Oliver to lineup opposite King.....glad it was Josh.

1: Neither of these guys are supplanting Tramon THIS SEASON. If a CB is getting overtaken its King

2: Based on their skillsets everything says slot CB for Jackson and Alexander, despite his size, is better suited then Jackson for the outside

did you have that written the opposite way? from everything the experts were saying they see Alexander being a guy who can cover the slot with jackson on the outside

That's how it will be. You do not want Jackson in the slot. That would be like watching Josh Jones out of position all year. I thought our best case scenario was Ward (slot) or Fitzpatrick (slot) in the first with Jackson (LCB) in the second, but this is a great consolation prize along with a future first.

If neither are ready to overtake House or Tramon at the beginning of the season, so be it....but I believe they will both be starting along with King before season's end barring injury.

Yeah seems like alexander is more the natural slot guy. But I'd give them both reps inside and out in camp because it seems like the pack always have at least one CB hurt at any given time. King has to be outside and while williams is probably crafty enough to line up anywhere its possible that jackson emerges as the second best slot corner option of the group.

Overall I love how they added some guys that can go get the ball. In todays NFL I'll trade giving up some big plays for turnovers. Its better than the slow death this defense has given up the past couple years.
