Blast from the past, but a good read in particular about the fan support.

http://washington.cbslocal.com/2016/06/27/dc-home-court-advantage-durant/

Don't expect that to change as long as Leonsis is hell bent on gauging the fans.

Bump?

Rollcall. Maybe expand thread subject to include people considering boycotting the Wizards altogether (at least, as Popper suggests, until EG is gone).

I went to one game this year (that awesome Hawks game near the end of the season....such memories).

Unless significant changes are made, that number will be 0 next season.

I went from a season ticket holder for 20 years to buying about 5 games last year, to buying one game this year at the beginning of the season. A ticket rep was sending me emails at the beginning of the playoffs trying to convince me to buy a ticket. I told him I will never buy a ticket again until Ernie is gone and I meant it.

I didn't spend a dime on tickets this season. The only game I went to was with a free ticket.

I went to one game this season buying half price tickets from a scalper.

I went to 12 games 2 years ago.

Would it even help to call the league office and complain as Wizards fans?

Is there a way to shame the owner into not rehiring Ernie Grunfeld? Now that the season is over couldn't the writers of the Washington Post try to help the fans out by knocking the work of Ernie Grunfeld in a way that's very public?

Twitter is pretty actively against him.

I don't read bullets forever that closely but I gather that most of the comments are very negative about Grunfeld and Leonsis.

There has to be a way to make some changes.

Secondary market ticket prices for non-premium games are collapsing. I'm not going to do an analysis since I have no interest in seeing a game at this point, but just took a quick look at a couple games.

If you ever wanted to sit court side and couldn't afford it, this is your chance.

Lots of seats available for Wednesday 2/28 vs. GSW. Much of the 400 level is unsold, with prices starting at $95 (plus fees, generally 25%). If the pattern of the past few years is repeated, the box office seats will be taken down in the next 24 hours and given away I assume. There will be people sitting in those seats Wednesday night.

As usual, the best value seats are in the 100 level behind the basket, where you can get resale seats with a box office price of $235 for $170 or less. Wednesday late morning will be the best time to hang out on Ticketmaster and see how prices for resale seats drop.

Also good resale availability for Friday 3/2 vs. Tronnuh. I'm looking at this one. Behind the basket seats for $80 and less. Also the 100 "corner' sections (102-109-113-120) for around $100. Also, three Acela Ledge seats now for $100 each, which includes the buffet I think.

I've gotten calls from the ticket reps, but I've told them that the secondary market is clearly the best value for the games I would want to see.

We had season tickets during the Arenas era. Midcourt about 10 rows up. Pretty much top tier seats. $140 a ticket. Paying 200-300 a ticket is absurd, especially or this trash. So the typical American family of 4 has to pay a thousand dollars to watch a 2 hour game? That's crazy.

He doesn't care, he's still making money and his Caps just won the Championship. Matter of fact, the team just added Geico ads to their jerseys.

Thanks for the bump I tried to find this thread a week ago. Boycott the games ladies and gentleman. Don't waste you time and money on these clowns.

PERHAPS ... his statement of expectation 50 wins (or bust)

ALONG WITH THE ATTABOYS HE now KNOWS FOR (THE FIRST TIME) WINNING ... will whet Teddy Bear LION(sis) appetite for MEAT. Dude's going to go HAM to win NOW...

PLUS, THE BEST MOTIVATOR IS ALL THIS CRAP THE MEDIA are now talkin' bout the Wizards

They're still the same just Howard was out a while. Brooks is NOT a good coach but...EVEN HE managed to get YOUNG KD, Russ, and Harden to the NBA FINALS. HE HAS ENOUGH TALENT TO CHALLENGE ANY ANY ANY TEAM IN THE EAST if he can just get past the feelings

his guards have feelings along with their big ass contracts

Scott Brooks has feelings for certain players who wouldn't start on great NCAA teams. But, now that they've got their big man SO GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO PLAY THROUGH his butt pain (I'm laughing at that). MIGHT BE BEST TO LISTEN TO ONE'S BODY and THE BEST healers ...

Now we shall see

IF the Wizards lose the next three in dispirited fashion, it's HIGH TIME TO FIRE the coach IMO.

RIGHT NOW? I'd stay the course and wait it out over the next 25 games.

Out of curiosity I was checking out tickets for last night (Cavs) and Friday (Nets). Judging from what's available, it's pretty clear that lots of people dropped their plans for this season. Consistent with the pattern of recent years, resale tickets are much cheaper than the gate price.

If that happened over the offseason, even with the BIG-3 returning and the excitement of adding perpetual DOUBLE-DOUBLE MAN MOUNTAIN Dwight Howard, it's hard to see how that trend wouldn't continue over the next offseason, unless the Wizards manage something like ECF or beyond.

Even if the Leonsis empire makes money overall, it's hard to see how Leonsis would ignore a division with huge expenses that clearly makes less money than it could, tarnishes the WSE brand, and degrades goodwill.
