That was the GOAT card for BJJ players and submissions.

Don't know what Harris and Sicilia were thinking grappling given their opponents.

Lovato's chops are obvious. He just rolled with Harris when he worked out of that triangle and nobody will tell him ever to not cross his legs on an armbar (why do they say that exactly?). Contender from the jump in Bellator because of the well-roundedness and athleticism.

But you keep sleepin' on Sanchez' even though it's right in your own backyard. It's the El Matador Era. He's so damn crafty. Give him a way, or angle to wrap around your neck, leg, or back and he's doing it. He's pretty little and looks like he may have been bullied on the mean streets of Miltown. Like Dave Herman I still don't know if BJJ works, but BJJ does save lives.

A-level trolling right here. It would be like the chicken with Rocky the first go round. Danis wouldn't catch him except with his face on MVP's fist. Why not go all the way then and claim he'd beat Rory already.

OMG. What a douchie broadcast team they have compiled. McCarthy, Ranallo, that hyper football guy who thinks he's a trainer (super fat right now, lol, what's happening, player?). So many guys trying to act so tough, none of whom have ever competed.

Man, Sicilia had multiple opportunities to disengage from the grappling, kept pushing it.

The armbar thing is mostly just said to white belts because one of the main defenses to the armbar is to stack the opponent. So not crossing your legs, but keeping then tight and BITING down on the head is a great way to keep them far enough away from you to not be able to stack you. I'd have to see the armbar from last night again to tell you exactly why but I remember thinking Lovato actually HAD to cross or else Harris would have stacked because of Lovato's non traditional entry into the armbar from triangle. You see it all the time from black belts, less often in fundamentals class.

If you heard somebody say that you shouldn't cross your feet on an armbar, it's most likely a white belt saying it who heard it from their coach and hasn't learned better yet and is trying to act knowledge about submissions. You probably got it from me 3-5 years ago.

LOL Rory/Danis is not close to close to competitive (in Rory's favor). Please don't put MVP in the same sentence as the Champ.

Is MVP even an active fighter anymore? Serious question. Last I heard from him was like two years ago when he was doing everything he could possibly do to ensure he'd never have to fight Paul Daley by proclaiming the only way he'd fight him is if he got his and Daley's purse if he won.

I was reading another forum and someone said something like "Chael vs Fedor, what a time to be alive" and someone quoted them and said something like "Crazy to think we are going to get to see The GOAT...vs Fedor"...and I Lolzed wayyy to hard at that.

As crazy as that fight is, I’ll probably watch it, and it’ll probably get really good ratings for a Bellator card.

What’s the drug testing policy in Bellator? Is Sonnen back on TRT plus whatever else he was taking?

Pretty good card. Would have liked to see some longer fights. I DVRd it, so I could fast forward through all the fluff

Favorite Chael comment of the night, when asked if he was as relaxed as Fedor is playing cards in the back before a fight.

"No, I was too busy hiding from the drug testers."

The world is filled with white belts. I could have heard from any one of them. But multiple analysts have said that even. Never understood it because if you cross your legs properly the armbar is more secure and tougher to get through. You can stack/block either, it's more about anticipation.

Neither are remotely competitive, if we're being serious for a sec. MVP isn't the easiest to catch, he does a good job of fighting for unders in the clinch to avoid td's, and on the ground he's always displayed instincts off his back. Very fluid guard, chaining sub threats to secure or get up. I don't think Danis is ever on that level, let alone now. He'd get Pico'd.

MVP has been off for a minute. Was competing in boxing. Bellator have been very cautious with him like McKee. One shouldn't infer there's something wrong with them. McKee bossed Lawrence. BMMA don't know how to build prospects. And it looked like Daley was more ducking Page. That is the fight Page and Bellator seemingly wanted. Daley wanted to go in another direction or under his own terms. https://www.mmamania.com/2018/3/12/17109202/paul-daley-denies-bitter-bellator-claim-ducking-michael-venom-page I wish we had gotten that Page-Daley fight. F**k Daley-Page. Have little interest in matches like that where you learn nothing from seasoned vets who aren't at the top of a division still and it's a bad style clash.

MVP refusing to fight Daley unless it was "winner take all" is ducking the fight. He knows no serious promotion would accept those terms. Not even a Coker promotion. Of course Coker is going to take MVP's side of that, Daley has already stated he wants out of bellator and I think this Fitch fight is the last on his deal.

Obviously I was trolling a little and MVP would be a favorite over Danis. I'm still skeptical of MVP though. I grant I haven't watched all his fights like you probably have but I can recall his last fight being terrible and the fight before that his guard was putrid vs Cyborg, and both those were years ago. If Danis somehow drags him to the ground, he's not getting up and he's certainly not chaining sub threats lol.

Edit: I reserve the right to change my mind about MVP if he ever fights an opponent with a pulse btw.

One thing I'll say about Danis is that he needs to not attempt to replicate Conor imo. Start from scratch and find a gym. I don't even know if he trains MMA tbh, he trains at Unity which is a Bjj gym in New York. I know he visits SBG occasionally but I literally don't think he has a home MMA gym. Regardless, Conor relies a lot on his instincts to slip punches in the pocket. Guessing he is so successful at it due to his experience, Danis will be flattened if he attempts the same.

Nice to see Fedor win (again), he needs to strike first and not wait for the other guy to hit him, should be able to beat Sonnen...

Honestly I may just watch bellator tonight instead of UFC. Ufc card is better, sure, but not really worth going out and watching (my usual routine for PPVs).

Good thing Bellator didn't cut Piccolotti off a couple losses. It would have been typical of them. He's extremely technical on the ground, tenacious, and creative. That sweep to mount was crazy. Threatened the armbar, rolled, trapped Banks' leg to keep him from taking the front or back, then kept rolling and jumped to (back) mount. Showed off some wrestling against a good wrestler too. He has ideas on the feet, and some potency, but can telegraph his attacks by not using enough feints and setting up kicks. The Punk justly asserted they have work to do with him. But still potential there to back door a title. Look how many downs Patricky has had.
