Id take Brown. Tatum really needs to learn how to use his off hand.

Tatum is also a better passer, much better ball handler and better at making plays for his teammates.

Tatum is the better player to me. I thought that before the playoffs started and still think that after the 1st round.

Tatum is more skilled, but he isnt better yet. He drifts so much mentally. Brown also doesnt know how to quite say plugged in either though. Both will be and should be dealt for Leonard and maybe a Patty mills

I think Brown got exposed a bit in game 6. Unlike a 22 yo Kawhi, his ball handling is still a major weakness and his passing isn’t good enough to open up the floor. If he ever gets much better at those skills the sky is the limit but many players never do. Tatum has all the skills. His passing is already much better than in Nov. I think he is limited by strength, experience and confidence. I agree that he drifts at times and is too passive. However, in game 7 he showed he is no Kelly Olynyk and I predict next year his killer instinct will be much more consistent.

I think it is inevitable that Tatum is a stud barring injury. Brown has a lot more to work on to reach his ceiling but his physical talent is undeniable. I think he has the work ethic and is getting the coaching and structure he needs but it is still less of a sure bet.

I agree Tatum is on the path to the greatness.

I used to have concern about Jaylen Brown, but now I am buying it.
I agree his ball handle skill and passing skill is on the way to develop.
However, the progress from last year to this year is pretty amazing.
Jaylen Brown is on the path of Jimmy Butler/DeRozan career.
Both tooks years to develop the skills to be the players now.

Brown’s improvements this year have been nice. There is no reason to compare him to all time greats. Brown had a long ways to go before he is anything close to those guys.
As much as I hate it, offensively at least, brown is more like a demar derozan.

That’s more of a good comparison. But Derozan is a legit all-star. He is a very good offensive player. Brown on the other hand doesn’t know what he is doing half the time with the ball in his hands. I get that he is young and will benefit from more experience but he is a ways away from even being an all star player.
Took Demar 8 years and he still gets stupid.

Tatum is a scrawny kid just 1 1/2 years out of high school and he just schooled the Sixers. The sky is the limit for this kid. When he fills out he is going to destroy it!

Tatum just scored the most playoff points for a Celtic rookie since Larry Bird had 31 in 1980.

The problem I have with Derozan comparison is Brown's shot profile absolutely nothing like Derozan. He basically shots like 85%+ of his shots from within ten feet, or 3 point range. Derozan's number is more like 57%. Thats a huge difference. Derozan is clearly the better offensive player, but Brown plays a more modern and more efficient style.

I am done trying to figure out who is better, or who will be better, or how good either Brown or Tatum will be. Every time I think I have a handle on these guy's ceiling they come out and raise the roof. So i hope the Celtics keep both, I wasn't yet basketball aware at the start of the Pierce era so i haven't gotten the chance to see a true homegrown superstar from beginning to end, so it would be nice to see two at once.

What’s ridiculous is that the NBA is debating who is the best rookie? Ben Simmons or Donovan Mitchell when both were 21 at start os season and Tatum was only 19 and just turned 20 last month. The Celtics fans at Garden nailed it with the “Not a Rookie” chant - one of the most clever ever!

It is a fairer question to ask who is better? Jaylen Brown, Mitchell or Simmons? Because there is no doubt who is the most promising rookie this year and that is Tatum. In 2 years he will be so much better than Simmons and Mitchell are now.

Tatum is great - not sure he needs to 'fill out' though. This hoping guys change body type stuff is the worst part of realgm. I hope we don't spend seasons talking bout how Tatum needs to gain weight aka reverse Sully.

Some dudes are Mikki Moore and some guys are Shaq. Genetics is huge factor in this - especially in hoops where guys have to run all the damn time..

Tatum Brown will be the new Bird McHale. Tatum is Bird. Brown will go on to be a GM and trade a stud to the Celtics in 2045.

Brown is pretty darn special. I call him "Young killa" because he has that killers mentality that many great players possess. But Tatum is on a whole new level. Tatum is going to be a mismatch nightmare for opposing teams as he develops and matures in this league. If he were 6'11 he'd be the new Durant. Tatum has a lot of similarities to Pierce but he's taller and longer then Truth.

We have some of the best young talent in the league. Tatum/Brown/Rozier/Semi/Smart plus that LAL/Sac pick

I don't know about that, man. For a young rookie Tatum has been absolutely phenomenal. I think you're underrating how special it is when a kid his age does what he is doing. It rarely happens... Jaylen was miles behind Tatum as a rookie. Tatum is way ahead of the curve. Remember, Donovan Mitchell is 21 years old. Ben Simmons is technically in his 2nd year. Tatum was a 19 year old true rookie for the majority of his rookie season. He eased his way into the NBA game and found ways to contribute on both sides of the ball within the team concept.

Tatum is going to come back stronger, more experienced, more confident and ready to take this league by storm. The game will slow down for him even more then it already has. He is going to be absolutely terrific for years to come.

I'm with Tommy....trading Tatum would be absolutely foolish. The ONLY guy I'd consider moving Tatum as part of the package would be for Anthony Davis. That's it. Very short list.

with a Kyrie-Hayward-Horford-Brown-Tatum-Rozier & whatever else the Celtics can win the title next season.

If Tatum takes a sophomore leap like Brown did then this discussion is all but over but in the meantime Browns growth trajectory cannot be ignored. In the era of superstar wings I couldn’t be happier than to have these guys as Celtics. Both future all stars without question IMO

You make a great point but I think Tatum’s shoulders suggest he will get bigger naturally like most 19 yo men do.
