Teams that have snipers, bombers and 3men from the outside are deadly successful. Even with the pace slowed down for playoff pace. Shooters are a huge advantage vs those who dont. Meaning, I'm leaning more and more keeping around a guy like Kuzma. A Thompson like shooter. We've gotta keep those type of guys in house, is my read and what I'm getting from these latest rounds of playoff games.
Problem with Kuzma is he doesn't seem to want to be "Just a Shooter." He wants to be the star of the team. If someone could kick him in the ass and convince him his ceiling is Klay and not Kobe, I think he'd have a much better career.
As far as lineups go though, we have to assume guys like Ball Ingram and Randle will just naturally become better shooters as their careers go on... Ingram was starting to hit jumpers pretty well and seemed to realize doing so was making the game easier for him. Ball won't stay in the league long if he can't shoot better than he did last season, so he's bound to get a whole lot better, and Randle has clearly been focusing on developing a reliable jumper, and now that his body's right, I think it's safe to assume he'll be at least a little more of a shooter.
And pure shooters aren't that rare in the NBA... So if you need a guy that can spot shoot, you could pick him up after the big names settle.
All of which is to say, sure if you can get Leonard on the cheap, and for me that's either Ingram or Kuzma and the first with Deng for KL... You have to do it... And you don't worry about losing Ingram OR Kuz in the process.
But if we can't get that, going all in for LeBron alone would make us really damned good, especially if we could keep Randle... And signing PG would just be a bonus...
I think we need the Killer that LeBron has become more than we need both PG and Kawhi... Those 2 are great players, but I don't think you're winning anything if they're the best players on your team. And I'm not sure how big the gap is between what they provide and what a guy like Ingram provides.
Never have rice at Hanzo's house...
