Trade for Melo?
What would do? He's on the block, I think he would be good for us. Trade Ish, Leuer and Galloway and a second for melo. Then take the mid-level exception and go after Marcus smart?
Jackson; Smart
Bullock;Kennard
Melo; Johnson
Griffin; Ellenson
Dre; Moreland
That could be a really good team with some money flexibility moving forward.
I am also going to say I have been a Memo fan for a while, and know he isn't the greatest on defense.

Re: Trade for Melo?
Melo is essentially a net negative on the court currently. The only advantage of trading for him means we could potentially dump the contracts of Leuer and Galloway. But I think he would make us a worse team.

That'd be a sick lineup, I'd take that and smile at the league. We'd crush everyone

Honestly I'd go for it if I can get that. Griffin and Melo would be players teams gave up on like Billups and Wallace. It can definitely work out and I'd go for it if it was available.

Re: Trade for Melo?
Is this a joke? Melo is an absolutely terrible basketball player.
AND we'd have to give up a 2nd round pick? They should be giving us a 2nd pick just to take him off their hands..

Perhaps, if you are trying to make the Pistons home of the worst contracts in the league...? Btw, maybe interested in Wiggins too?

Re: Trade for Melo?
Melo sucks.
He's an expiring though. Would be great if OKC would be dumb enough to deal him for Griffin.

No to Melo unless it's on a vet min contract.

Re: Trade for Melo?
The *only* reason you trade for Melo is if it's to clear long term salary and you intend to buy him out. That's also the only way he potentially waves his no-trade clause.

Yep. I'd love to do that. Doubt they Thunder go for it though, and I doubt our brass is willing to admit defeat on Blake, though.

Re: Trade for Melo?
The only reason you get melo is to buy him out and off the cap.
Griffin for Melo.... PG is gone and melo sucks at this point. Good for both teams.
Or galloway and the backup c/f that was injured. Again, only to save cap.
As a player? Melo stopped being a winner in college.

Man hell no! Carmelo will force his way to the Rockets next season, just watch. He's been saying for a while he wants to play with Chris Paul.

Re: Trade for Melo?
Trade Melo for Ish, Leuer, & Galloway.....really? Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaase show me any type of motivation for OKC to do that? Plus I believe Melo still has his NTC. And after all that ridiculousness Marcus Smart is going to accept the MLE? LOL. Get out of 2k land my man.

Not good for both teams. OKC gets a player who fits horribly with Westbrook, and pays an epic tax bill on top of the $300 million that would be owed to the two over the next four seasons.
Or galloway and the backup c/f that was injured. Again, only to save cap.
So OKC gets two seasons of bad role players. Again, no, and the numbers wouldn't work out anyhow; the Pistons would need to send out Ish as well, and that ain't happening.

Melo has always been hugely overrated.

Re: Trade for Melo?
NO. If this organization has proved anything TO A TEE in the past ten years it’s that making the “take a chance and hope it works in our favor” moves DO NOT WORK. This would be another one.

Unless grinding mediocrity is your cup of tea, it'd take conscious effort to worsen the organization's situation. Getting out of Griffin's brutal contract would be an unequivocal plus.

Re: Trade for Melo?
I doubt Melo would waive his NTC. But it could work if OKC threatens to bench Melo for the rest of his career there since he's wholly against that because of his huge ego.
With us trading for him and his expiring, we could convince him to chuck to his heart's content since next season will likely be a very dark one anyways. That and getting out of Blake's contract is almost a win by itself considering he'll be long out of his athletic prime by the time year 2 rolls around his tenure here. Which sounds disgusting.

Re: Trade for Melo?
This would be a great deal. Melo is bad, but we'd be getting an expiring for two bad contracts and a marginal player. OKC would never do this.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
