But seriously, though...

Did any body else see 'Avengers: Infinity War' yet?

Digital streaming has essentially killed the need for illegal music downloads. Streaming has reached the point where Apple, Spotify, Tidal, and even YouTube get factored into 'sales'. An artist can 'sell' 400k copies first week yet barely 40k of that is actual physical copies and barely twice that being purchased downloads.

As to Avengers, I had to catch an opening after midnight showing on a *shudders* non IMAX screen because I know how some people have nothing else going on in their lives but to spoil movies. Needless to say, while I was in the bathroom emptying the bladder in preparation for the 3 hour odyssey, a group of guys that just got out from an earlier screening were livestreaming and snapchating spoilers on their phones right behind me... Not a comfortable experience but great movie though.

I've seen it twice. I can tell it's a really ambitious movie that really works well.

But something about it bothers me and I can't quite put my finger on it.

(On my 2nd viewing second viewing, I was falling asleep for the first act.)

Spoiler:
I think it's too overstuffed and a lot of scenes/setups kind of get glossed over. I actually hate that Thor, after all that character growth in Ragnorak, gets a new eye and hammer in literally the next movie. Undermining a lot of the development of his character.

It also features a ton of characters...who literally have no effect on the story. (See everyone in Wakanda storyline.)

The Black Panther characters don't get enough screen time. It's clear the movie makers didn't foresee BP being such a success.

Ultimately, this thing was a huge movie that is well made and satisfies. And the above are minor quibbles. But I could see THIS movie being successfully split in half too as there was so much going on.

Agree with your complaints.

Spoiler:
It ended up feeling like a hodge podge of random cameos but was a good movie IMHO. Seems like, once the sequel comes out, it'll be better as 3 movies instead of 2?

I guess my one complaint is that it was too obvious that there was going to be a sequel. IMHO, this movie can't stand alone. The mark of a good sequel is when either movie can stand alone as a good movie. JMHO

I think you guys had a skewed expectation going into the movie. I believe that it was always billed as a two chapter movie, after all, how many sequels are shot concurrently and planned with exactly 1 year apart release dates? That and adding the culmination of 19 movies, each with their own individual character arcs and development condensed into one human-bladderly-possible movie is going to run into issues of making everyone matter.

Which turns into the strength of the movie, it was a showcase for Thanos and why we should think that he matters. Marvel has always had an issue with their villains, they are mostly one dimensional with little depth to their reason for being evil outside of that they're evil and when there's any amount of emotional investment into the bad guy they are promptly killed off. Thanos works his way up towards the level of Killmonger but even with how great a character Killmonger was, his screen time was negligible and he was of course killed off in Black Panther's final arc.

Spoiler:
Infinity War added depth to a villain that's been teased for over half a decade even if it took over 2/3rds of the movie to finally reveal the actual motives behind his quest. I admit his motives weren't exactly entirely compelling but they did well enough to establish them as both personal and even altruistic in a sense. The ending did well in raising the stakes, something that's been another complaint with Marvel. Their heroes never seem to be in much peril as they usually funny quip or find a magical McGuffin way out of any trouble.

The added bonus is that the 2nd part to Infinity War should be more character focused as the roster is dramatically slimmed down. We should see how they cope with half the universe being decimated and of course there's that first interaction between Iron Man and Captain America to look forward to since the events of Civil War. I also don't think it's a coincidence that the original roster from the first Avengers were the ones left standing. They are the characters we've spent the most time with so there's undoubtedly going to be a more meaningful sacrifice there that leads to restoring the rest of the population, ushering all of the new wave of characters to take over as the prime faces of Disney/Marvel's next eleventy billion films.

This is completely contrived. Meticulously crafted by the marketing department of a billion-dollar corporation.

But it's still pretty cool.

Rick and Morty is getting renewed for 70 new episodes. I'm part of the cult following behind that show, I love the randomness and humor of it all.

I also just finished the second season of Atlanta and man, Donald Glover is firing on all cylinders at the moment, from "Atlanta" to his "This is America" video. Really a superstar of our generation.

Love Atlanta! Gotta check out Rick and Morty cuz I love that style of comedy...plus I’m watching a rerun of pretty women and I’m at the part where Richard Gere just negotiated with Julia Roberts for $3000! I think that’s a fair figure....I’d also say I’m ready for anything else ...

Well, this didn't go as planned. Months and months ago, I left the Squawk, by invitation. Recently, I was told that
everything was OK if I wanted to return. I did. Posted one time and was welcomed back. Then, it crashed. I haven't
been able to get back on since. Oh, well. Guess I'll just stay here.

Looking forward to our new team in the NBA next season.

The site is up just that the "Homecourt" link is broken. I've been able to sneak back in on a bookmarked thread though. The mods say that they are in contact with the old admin to help fix it but this is Dolfan's response:
