Please get Demarcus Cousins. Make it happen!
If we can trade Hassan Whiteside in a 3 or 4 team trade, and get DMC in a S&T .........or some other genius move in another patented RILEY OFFSEASON..... the Heat are back.
This is our shot. Boogie has been plagued by bad situations, he's only 27 years old..... his best years are ahead of him...... The HEAT culture is exactly what he needs, and he is exactly the player the HEAT need to build a championship contender around.
HE CAN BE THAT PLAYER. Look at what Lebron was when he came in 2010, to the player we helped him become when he left in 2014.
"Demarcus.... look. You are still a superstar. You are one of the most talented players in this league. But let's be honest for a second. The Sacramento Kings failed you. They're an organization that doesn't know how to win championships. They tried, they tried hard Boogie..... but they couldn't come through for you. They failed you. You were in a bad situation in Sacramento, but that doesn't mean it's time to give up on your dream. You're only 27 years old and one of the best talents in the world. You shouldn't be playing second fiddle to Anthony Davis, or anyone else. You can finally put yourself in a position where you can lead your own team and have the support of a championship pedigree front office here with the Heat. We will back you up, build a team around you, and we KNOW how to win. Let's win rings together, Demarcus. Let's finally show the world what was being hidden in Sacramento."

That’s a horrible injury for a big guy. He can possibly get back to what he was but I definitely wouldn’t say his best years are ahead of him.

I ain't scurred. He'll be fine. Modern medicine heals these injuries much better than they used to.

Re: Please get Demarcus Cousins. Make it happen!
Here are some examples of bigs who tore Achilles and how they came back. Got these from reddit.
“Christian Laettner Pre-Achilles (92-93 to 97-98): 16.6 PPG, 8 RPG, 3 APG, 1 SPG, 1 BPG
Christian Laettner Post-Achilles (98-99 to 04-05): 8.5 PPG, 5 RPG, 2 APG, 1 SPG, .5 BPG
His injury happened at the age of 28.
Elton Brand Pre-Achilles (2000 to 2008): 20.3 PPG, 10 RPG, 3 APG, 1 SPG, 2 BPG
Elton Brand Post-Achilles (2009 to 2016): 9.9 PPG, 6 RPG, 1 APG, 1 SPG, 1 BPG
Happened at Age 28, which means age possibly played a part in his decline.
Mehmet Okur Pre-Achilles (02-03 to 09-10): 13.9 PPG, 7 RPG, 1 APG. .5 SPG, .7 BPG
Mehmet Okur Post-Achilles (10-11 to 11-12): 6.5 PPG, 4 RPG, 1.5 APG, .4 SPG, .3 BPG
His injury happened at 30, but it turned a good player into someone who was out of the league in two seasons.”

Seeing this I would stay far away from Boogie.

Modern medicine has advanced a lot in 10-15 years.
Boogie is only 27
He'll be fine.

Boogie is a good enough shooter where even if he loses a little athleticism, he’ll still be money.
Bam/Boogie front court would be so nice.

If he gets here, it will not end well.
With an egotistical coach who will not change his system to suit his personnel. And a front office who will back him over any player any day.
This team is destined to be screwed as long as this setup is in place.

Not the player we need to build around.
Pre-injury his supermax was risky, post-injury is a very likely suicide.

So we trade one immature center for another immature center only he's much more talented but has a potentially career threatening injury?

I think he can because he wasn't a big that was incredibly athletic. He was just incredibly skilled. It's similar to Middleton.Rafly wrote:That’s a horrible injury for a big guy. He can possibly get back to what he was but I definitely wouldn’t say his best years are ahead of him.

Every single one of those guys were fringe all stars. Boogie is 2 steps above those guys talent wise. We should be wary about the injury but not enough to not take a chance on him. Just sign him to a short deal.

Back to what? Boogie hasn't exactly proven to be a winner.

Re: Please get Demarcus Cousins. Make it happen!
I'd gamble and do the trade if I were Riley, that is if New Orleans would be willing to do it. I'm guessing Cousins wouldn't be available until around X-Mas and would then have to be eased into playing time. It's a major gamble particularly if Mia had to sign Cousins to a extension that exceeds the remaining number of years on Whiteside's contract. His injury is a major concern and it's conceivable that he won't be able return to his previous form. At the end of the day, the potential reward of attaining arguably the best big man in basketball would be too tempting not to pull the trigger.

Are you blaming Boogie for the trash can that is the Sacramento Kings?
