Re: Fake Trade Thread
IF we go the rebuild route and trade Kemba, I read somewhere that the Bulls want to start winning this coming season. If so, would they look at a deal like this?
Bulls get,
Kemba
Batum
11th pick in the draft
Hornets get
Kris Dunn
Omer Asik
Robin Lopez
6th pick in the draft
22nd pick in the draft
I think a Bulls lineup of like this could head to the playoffs. Batum should be better at SF and work well with Kemba and Lavine. Pick 11 should help them with depth
Kemba
Lavine
Batum
Portis
Markenan
Hornets get out of the Batum contract by taking on contracts that expire after next season, add Dunn who at minimal could be our backup PG, and move into the top 6 of the draft along with another late 1st round pick
Bulls get,
Kemba

11th pick in the draft
Hornets get
Kris Dunn
Omer Asik
Robin Lopez

22nd pick in the draft

Bulls need to keep Lopez if they want to keep winning.
I still feel like a Kemba trade is unlikely unless it nets the team significant win now guys. I just don't think that we are looking a rebuild here. ONLY if Kemba is unhappy during the season then a pre-deadline trade might be possible. I just don't think that anything like that happens during the summer.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

MKG to DEN for Malik Beasley + Kenneth Faried
I do this trade to land Beasley who CHA liked in the 16 draft before the dubious Belinelli deal
Faried out of favor in DEN and expiring

Beasley and Bender are my two favorite buy low players still on their rookie deals. They're both high IQ players that can defend, shoot, and pass. I think both of them would shine in more featured roles.

pre-deadline trade would be horrendous on so many fronts.
1.) If Kemba is an All star and we trade him, the team will lose a lot of fans.
2.) If Kemba isn't an All star and is unhappy, we won't get any value
I just don't see any reason to gamble here. The team isn't going anywhere fast and our best opportunity moving forward is to trade Kemba this offseason. Lots of people have personal feelings that don't allow them to see past the now, but as a franchise, if we hope to achieve anything this century, it's imperative that we place business above personal feelings.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Though my first instinct wants to improve around Kemba, I realistically understand where this franchise is right now. We obviously have no cap space, and we don't own trade chips to bring in a top player. You cannot seriously contend without better talent, and to be honest Kemba should be the second option on a contender. I do not want to settle for revamping and at best being 4th or 5th seed. I want to see a serious contender put together, and that starts with the reset button. Grabbing assets where you can, dump salary where you can, and draft well. Start with a couple picks this year to add to Monk and Bacon. Tank hard next year, and go for RJ Barrett. I truly believe Barrett has the potential to be called the next generational talent. Barrett with the help of Monk, Bacon, and picks from this year would be a strong start to a rebuild.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Obviously I hope we have a turn of luck in the lottery to land us top 3 of the draft. The odds are against that though, but I would love to get that 1st pick from the Suns if they land the top pick. Do we have a package of assets to get us there? They obviously need a PG and could become a good team with Kemba, Booker, Warren, Jackson, Chriss, Bender, Chandler, and either Marv or Cody. By trading equal contracts, they still would have cap space for free agency, and Kemba to help lure free agents.
Kemba
Marvin or Cody (their choice)
11th pick
Future 1st, top 5 protected in 2019 and 2020, top 3 protected in 2021
For
Knight (taking their bad contract)
Dudley
1st pick in this years draft
Do you feel this is close? Not enough? Too much?

Re: Fake Trade Thread
You approached this as "I would like the #1 pick" ... but in any scenario where Kemba leaves the team will need a plan going forward that includes multiple prospects or picks coming back. They don't have to be all at once, the way Chicago did, these could be future picks. They don't even have to be lottery picks. It's just that drafting is a game of odds. Some prospects work out well and others don't. Trading Kemba - a prospect that worked out well - for just a shot at a guy who might (even at #1) is a suckers bet IMHO. So what needs to change is one of the Suns young guys coming back or another pick this year or in the next two.
I'll add that trading Dudley is something that the Suns might be opposed to. He's been a solid positive influence on their young guys and can still play some when needed.
Edit: and adding Zeller is pretty significant if that's the route chosen. I would expect more if he's included vs Marv.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
How about this instead?
CHA Out: Walker, Howard, and Lamb
CHA In: Fultz, Bender, Chandler, Knight
Charlotte takes a different path to rebuilding by betting on two disappointing top 4 picks to turn things around in a Hornets jersey.
PHI Out: Bayless and Fultz
PHI IN: Walker and Lamb
Philadelphia adds a minuscule amount of money to their cap to upgrade their team in preparation for a big free agent signing.
PHX Out: Chandler, Knight, and Bender
PHX In: Howard and Bayless
Phoenix targets the summer of 2019 to make a free agent splash by moving Knight and Bender.
https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7043047
Would we need to send another asset Phoenix's way to get Bender? Or is taking on the extra year of Knight enough to get him?

I think Philly would have to send something our way. I view Kemba as more value than Fultz, and Lamb more value than Bayless. Phoenix is saving lots of money, so trading Bender should be worth it.
I was looking at the number 1 pick as a way to grab Ayton or Doncic. I think Ayton will be as good as Embiid, and then tank for RJ Barrett next year who I think will be a much better player than Simmons. Then you through in Monk, make some other good moves, and we could catch up to Philly real quick like. If we go Doncic, then tank for Barrett, and have Monk, Barrett, and Doncic on the wings.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Ayton's intangibles scare me, I'd pick Doncic, Jackson, Bagley, and possibly Porter before I drafted him.
And while I think the offer you suggested to trade up for #1 is more than fair, realistically there's no way the Suns are trading it. Bagley is from Phoenix, Ayton played at Arizona, and they just hired Doncic's Slovenian national team coach. They're taking one of those 3 guys no matter what.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
I agree it would be tough to get the pick from Phoenix, which is why I tried to add a little extra value in the trade. I guess it depends on how they view those guys, and if they want to continue to be patient. Getting Kemba to go along with Booker, Warren, and Jackson may look better when they try to attract free agents.
I like Ayton, Doncic, Bagley, and Jackson. Not a big fan of Porter at this point

If the Pistons decide to go a different way now that they cleaned house, would you do Nic for Blake? I know Blake Griffin's contract is bigger but he is an actual difference maker and playing with Kemba could work

I'm torn here. I'm just not sure that Griffin is going to age well and injuries concern me. But I do think that he would pair well with Kemba in the short term.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
There are a lot of interesting directions the team can go in, but if I'm Mitch the only things I'm concentrating on from a player personnel standpoint for the next few weeks are the draft and finding a team that will take Dwight. If other teams want some of our other players like Kemba, Batum, Marvin, etc. they can reach out to us. Dwight has to go or MJ has to make a firm commitment to buy him out before we make any other major trades.

yeah I definitely would. That's the kind of risk you have to take if you're a team in our situation and want to keep competing. I think DET would receive offers better suited for a rebuilding team than Nic though.
Zeller/Hernangomez
Blake/Frank
MKG
Lamb/Monk
Kemba
plus whatever shooters and playmakers we can get for Howard/Marvin/11 would be sick.
investigate Adam Silver
