Starting to get intrigued by Frazier. Not going to say I've seen how well he's performed against elite or poor competition. Just from limited snippets and the sake of common recollection for Hawk fans, I'll compare him to a player like Marv. Wouldn't be mad at all if he lands at 19.

Those are some solid choices.
Especially young Khyri...

Jamal, are you rooting for the Lakers to crack the #2 or 3 pick so it goes to the Celts?

Ummm....as hilarious as that would be.
I just don't want Luka to end up in Sacramento.
Or for Cleveland to get a top-3 selection.
Beyond that, meh.

Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
JJJ is growing one me. I was hesitant at the beginning and compared his game to Marvin but I’ve reconsidered drafting him because he’s not as much a Marvin duck butt as I initially saw in him. He and Collins would be a versatile 4/5 combo for years to come. Super young and raw but I’m starting to see more of a Kevin Garnett in this kid than a Marvin Williams.
Warming up to him. This is going to be a pretty good draft and we need another pick in the top 10. Let’s face it we have 3 firsts and a second round pick and there’s no way we bring in 4 rookies, so why not trade a package of Dennis, Baze #19, #30 and #33 to move into that aforementioned top 10 and just being in 2 legit rookies to pair with Prince and Collins.

What's his mental make up? Does he have a Draymond Green-esque mean streak in him? Since his billing is DPOY + shooting. You can't be DPOY in this league without some nasty.

Honestly haven’t seen enough Mich St. games to know his mental makeup...like 99% of players he does scream to the sky on made dunks but that doesn’t tell me much.
What I do know is that he is a lean long outside shooting (despite funky release) big man that can stretch it but at the same time rebound like a man and not a Horford. Combining him with John Collins could form a very exciting front court for years to come.
He is definitely not a Marvin Williams as far as core weakness and leg strength as he’s got both despite his skinny frame which he will grow into like most college players tend to do.
Another bonus is that he’s the son of a tough gritty former nba guy with the Spurs in senior. I remember his dad being a tough defender for sure if I’m not mistaken. I feel like his dad taught him toughness from the beginning and he’s probably well prepared for the hectic 82 game season of the nba.
Again, he’s not a top 5 guy for me, but if we get 6th or 7th and he’s still on the board and we pass up on him, I’d hate to see him turn into the next Garnett. (Similar body type)

JJJ is my sleeper top 5 pick. His D is top shelf and he can shoot. Also all in on the second top ten pick senario. That's doing the rebuild right.
My next two benchmark ratings for TS's work are his coaching hire and how he handles and optimizes this most important draft in the Hawks rebuild

I just liked 3 posts in this thread. Maybe that means that I like JJJ in the 4-5 range that the Hawks are most likely to pick

I'm not sure how we could move up. Baze isn't going to net positive value. As much as we love Dennis, I think his value is seen more neutral or negative than positive. Our best bet is to take on a contract for an earlier 20s, then package that with 19 to try and move into the mid teens.

Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
There are X possiblities to trade up. We have three picks (#19; #30, #33 plus future picks , we have positive value players that can be moved, we can absorb, bad contracts. Moving up should be the priority, not the implausibility.
Based on His statements and position, TS should be all in to maximising this years draft assets

I think moving into top-10 would be prettyh difficult. And it'll cost us more than perhaps we want to pay.
Chicago, Sacramento, Philly and CLE seem most likely to consider a trade for their top pick. (Assuming they are not top-3).
We'd likely need to a) accept bad contracts from these guys and b) need to provide cheap, proven contributors in exchange. It's gpnna cost us some combination of Dennis, Taurean, Collins and/or #19.
I do think we can get back up to #13 fairly easily. Top-10...would be harder.
(trading back from #4 or 5 might be an easier path to multiple picks between 6-10)

A 24 yo PG with last season avg on a very bad team: PTS: 19.4 ASST 6.2 REB 3.1 PER 17.41 on a good contract is neutral or negative? I hope you don't work in marketing or FO

Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Any take-aways on this first crop of draft workouts?
The workouts will begin at 9 a.m. at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex in Atlanta and are closed to the public. The four players are: Mississippi guard Terence Davis; Texas A&M center Tyler Davis; George Tech guard Josh Okogie; and North Carolina forward Luke Maye.
All four players are early-entry candidates.
Terrence Davis averaged 13.8 points and 6.2 rebounds as a junior last season.
Tyler Davis was first-team All-SEC as a junior last season, averaging 14.9 points and 8.9 rebounds.
Okogie scored 18.2 points and 5.8 rebounds last season as a sophomore. He was named third-team All-ACC.
Finally, Maye averaged 16.9 points and 10.1 boards as a junior, winning ACC Most Improved Players and being named third-team All-American by the Associated Press.
