I think it's worse. I hate being teased into thinking we are going to be good year in and year out

I will miss Kemba if he's playing for a different team, but I can't lie, I'd be excited to see what Monk would show if he's handed the reigns.

I will tremendously miss Kemba, love that guy as a player and a person. At the same time, I want to see him have a legit shot at winning a title with a team that is a contender now. I also want the Hornets to have a true rebuild and become contenders

They have a much better drafting record than us.

Embiid, Simmons and Saric are all very good starters and two of them are potential superstars. They got solid role players in Covington and McConnell as undrafted guys. Holmes is a decent backup. Fultz, Luwawu and Korkmaz could turn into something.

meanwhile, we have Kemba and not much else. MKG has gotten worse, Cody is solid, Frank is meh, Graham might be a decent undrafted guy and Monk could turn into something.

they have us beat on both quality and quantity.

I don't view their success through the lens of this being the first year of anything. It's like the fact that they went entire seasons with nothing to show for it is not important.

How many seasons of nothing would you go through for Lebron James? The new supermax contracts make getting players of the elite level even that much more important. It also helps the small market out a ton by being able to hang on to their superstars like Lebron.

None, because the odds of landing a LeBron caliber talent are awful. If the standard is LeBron then PHI struck out.

The went through a five year rebuild, and have three guys you consider to be good starters.

I don't understand why the comparison to us is relevant. I'm not saying we're a success story. I'm thinking about where we should go from here with a new FO and coaching staff.

His 2017-18 performance to date even caught the eye of 76ers legend Julius “Dr. J” Erving, who called Simmons a “[o]nce in a decade, maybe once in a lifetime-type player.”

Ok. I think Simmons is no where close to LeBron level. Maybe I'll be proved wrong. Doesn't change my point that if you tank waiting to draft the next LeBron, you're gonna be tanking for a long ass time.

The point is we have to take a shot. Our team is capped out and Batum is going to plague us for the next few years, whether we trade him or not. There will not be a much better time to do a rebuild than right now.

Besides Kemba, what do we really have that we are so worried about losing? Let's do him and us both a favor and part ways.

Agreed, my preference is to send him to Philly. I don't think their front office is all that under Bryan Collangelo, but they're still on a higher level than the Cavaliers. I also dislike the Cavalier colors and jerseys, Kemba would look much better in white/blue than burgundy/mustard. He'd be unofficial leader of that team by the end of the season most likely. And I'd enjoy cheering for him against the Celtics.

Ask for Fultz and then find the best team of sports psychologists that money can buy to help both him and MKG.

I think Larranaga would be great for Fultz

I love Kemba and all that but best case scenario we max him out with a weak roster around him and try to rebuild from what even our own management says is the worst spot in the NBA. While nobody wants to lose moving Kemba likely gives us our best chance to really compete in the long run. We don't have to find the next LeBron to do that all we have to do is land a couple of players that can get to Kemba's level at the same time that we can truly build around. It isn't certain that it would work that way but the odds are better than staying in that 8-10 spot in the east range.

It wont happen but I hope Philly comes back and wins this series 4-3 because the Boston fans are the most insufferable people on the planet

I'd rather be us than the Pistons. Batum has a bad contract, but at least we aren't paying $60+ million over the next 3 seasons to Drummond and Griffin with no playmakers on the roster good enough to make that pairing work (i.e. Chris Paul, Rubio, etc.)

Seems like the league is finally moving on from the Van Gundy tree.

Someone should clue Minnesota in before it's too late.

Didn't we just see something about DET specifically wanting SVG to work through next season? Thought I saw that on the twits.

My guess is that they 100% wanted SVG out of the front office and he wasn't willing to be demoted.

2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu

Twitter thread on Chinese pun names for NBA players. I had so much fun reading this. Very slight NSFW warning on a few of them. I did totally LOL.
