I thought this was a great listen, let me know your thoughts .Some interesting points I heard

- Is Juancho a Malone type guy ? (Again, is Malone good for Jokic-ball is the better question )
- He needs to get about 1500mins this season, I wonder of he (and Beasley) play in SL to get better
= He's great at off-ball movement (is that how Jokic-ball succeeds ?)

Juancho was always seen as part of our core after his successful rookie season and strong showing at eurobasket. Even in pre-season you could tell he had made huge strides on his body. Malone killed his confidence, essentially gave up on him and didn’t trust him. Juancho gave Denver some good minutes when Malone gave him a shot at the end of the season. But Malone chose to cut him out of the rotation for Torrey Craig. Who I want off the roster because Malone will continue to play him even though we have more talented players on the bench.

We all know that Malone does not like Jokic ball, if he did than he would not have done so much to avoid playing it the last 2 seasons. Given that, I would say that no Juancho is not a Malone type guy. Malone likes iso type players, that is why he overplayed Barton, he overplayed Nelson, he calls so many plays for Millsap, he cut Lyles minutes 1st chance he got, won't play Beasley or Juancho, and the offense gets better when he stops trying to call plays. I truly believe that Malone thinks if you are not a good iso player than you better be good at defense and you are a garbage type offensive player. OF course his idea of good defense and the rest of the world's seem to be different otherwise how do you explain Plumlee and Barton being the defensive rotation at the end of games?

I don't know that putting beasley or Juancho in the summer league is going to make much difference, they have already shown what they can do in limited minutes in the NBA and in the Dleague, at this point if Malone won't use them then the summer league is not going to mean anything.

Of course Jokic ball only works when guys move without the ball, that is why it would stagnate at times when Jokic was on the court with Barton, Chandler, and Millsap last season, they wouldn't move. I just don't think Malone puts a priority on moving without the ball, as I said he is a coach that likes Iso players, so it is given he wants iso ball with guys spotting up. Beasley, Juancho, Murray, Harris, Lyles, and Craig all moved well without the ball last year. Yet when Harris was out most of those minutes went to barton and Chandler, yet some of our best wins in the last 2 seasons have come when Chandler, Barton, and, or Millsap was out with injury. Some of the young guys are not as talented as those veterans, but the constant movement and hustle more than makes up for it. Malone doesn't seem to see it though, and since he will be back, my hopes to see the young guys actually used dwindle by the day.

even if Craig is not brought back than Juancho is going to struggle to get minutes, whether the starting SF is barton, Chandler, or someone they trade for Juancho is still just as likely if not more likely to be buried on the bench. He doesn't fit what Malone seems to want, so if Malone ahs a choice Juancho will not get many minutes.

In fact that is why I want Craig to come back and to not go get a name SF, Juancho s clearly more talented and a better overall player than Craig, and it will force Malone to give minutes to either Juancho or Beasley, both of whom fit great with the Jokic offense.

With the size of some of the SFs these days; Lebron, Kawhi, Durrant - and not just those three, Hernangomez might make a decent SF or at least as a backup. But in the long-run, I think he makes the ideal stretch-4 (or at least that's his potential, we need to see if he can live up to that potential). Unfortunately it seems unlikely that he'll get that shot until he leaves Denver.

((( Aren't you proud of me? I said that without once pointing out the lack of BBIQ of our head coach! )))

In that podcast that Sky posted Mares talks about Juancho's strength being an issue at PF and even against bigger SFs, and I can see that.

For all the push to get Juancho to PF I am not so sure that I agree with it being his long term position. I watched some old games that I was deleting off the DVR this last weekend, and Juancho played pretty well at SF. While people bring up his lack of speed, fact is he is faster than Gallo was at the end of his time here, and is faster than Chandler. The biggest issue I see is that Juancho does not have great handles, but on a team with Harris, Murray, and Jokic than we need a guy who can play off ball, spot up, and finish, all things he is great at.

Weirdly the one position I have questions about in the future is actually PF, I do not think Lyles will ever be the defender we need at PF, and with Lydon's injury and having Juancho play SF, I just am not comfortable saying we have our long term answer there.

Yeah, I hear you on Hernangomez's speed/strength at SF but with a decent defensive scheme, I think he'd be a solid contributor. His defense is something similar to Jokic's: positioning. That is often under-rated by many. But I understand the doubts, that's why playing him is essential - so we can figure out if he's the long-term answer.

I think Lyles at PF is similar. We need to see him play, in order to find out if he's a long-term answer.

Our other choice is to play Chandler and Barton a lot of minutes and maybe make the playoffs, maybe not.

AGAIN, I call BS, you're very protective of Juancho. Malone didn't kill his confidence, MONO killed it. I would bet Juancho would have been more viable PT if he were healthy. I get you're love for Juancho and hatred of Malone but at least portray it in full light rather than skewing the truth to make your view look better.
