Don't know how to feel about this. No clue what his strengths as a coach are, or how he might envision this team playing

Sigh... Of course we interview multiple candidates that everyone would be thrilled with then go with one of the uninspiring guys that no one was excited about. I'm guessing we just hired the Steve Clifford of the Popovich coaching tree. Lesson learned (for the millionth time). Never get excited about anything related to this franchise.

I knew it.

Larranaga was the obvious choice so they went with Borrego instead. This **** franchise, man.

I'm not gonna pretend to know anything about him. Young guy, but with several years of experience. Fits the mold I was looking for so I'm optimistic.

A branch of the Popovich tree. I know there were way flashier names out there, but I'll reserve judgment till I see what he's got in store for us.

From his wiki page. "Borrego began in 2003 his career in professional basketball with the San Antonio Spurs, starting as an assistant video coordinator in the summer of 2003"

Totally giving me Clifford vibes. I admit that I know nothing about this guy and have no idea if he is good or bad, but it feels like we just hired another long time assistant who was never going to get a head coaching gig unless we hired them...

He had a 10-20 record with Orlando in 2015 as an intern HC.

The worst of their coaching tree who was never going to get a head coaching gig unless we hired them. At least its a good coaching tree.

He interviewed for most of the coaching vacancies this summer. It's not like this signing is that far out of left field.
