So he's going to quietly shout "Dig, dig, dig" from the sidelines instead. Impressive.

Borrego made a strong impression in his interview with Mitch Kupchak, the Hornets' new president of basketball operations and general manager. Kupchak became more intrigued once he started to canvass NBA executives, coaches and players who have worked with Borrego, sources told ESPN.

Omg. When I read this I imagined Batum running by the bench on his way to get back on defense and Borrego covering his mouth and quietly murmuring "Dig" and then looking away awkwardly. I dont know why, but it made me lol.

I wonder if any of the other Spurs assistants will join him if they don't get a HC position and want to be a lead assistant? Udoka? Hammon?

For some reason seeing Kyler say that actually makes me feel worse. I have a borderline irrational antagonism towards Kyler.

It gave me mixed feelings because I share your dislike for Kyler, but the descriptors he used are exactly what I'd want to hear describing a head coach. Now I'm just more confused.

Whatever, I'll begrudgingly be optimistic. Some of us are still traumatized by Clifford.

He coached Tobias Harris. So it's settled and I look forward to their arrival.

Kupchak went with a defense-first coach but watch how fast Kupchak dumps Dwight.

I can only hope that this means we are rebuilding.

My first team specific thought is that its a tall order to ask a 37 year old first time HC to tell a 33 year old future hall of famer to stay in his lane and be managed from a culture perspective.

I do think I'll be surprised if Dwight is on our roster for our first game.

He looks like a bit of a douche. But whatever. Let's hope he can coach.

I have a good feeling about it.

More than being defensive-oriented, it's a nice hire if Borrego adapts to his team's strengths and is willing to play rookies.

have zero idea what to think. All I know is I have to start practicing rolling my "R's". Fingers crossed - staff selections will be a bit more telling.

The lack of optimism on this board makes me think everyone here is an alcoholic.

After this past season i wouldnt blame you

Fun tidbit:

Google translate says Borrego translates to Lamb.
