Liverpool have new fans - how nice.
Hope you lot win the CL.
It's as likely to be a 5-3 win as a 4-0 loss.

Thanks to Chelsea dropping points today, all we need is a draw on Sunday.

Yes...I saw that, and I can't believe it. We do certainly seem to draw alot, so it's looking good.
Still think it's total crap that it's even come to this....but let's get a win/draw and move on.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Liverpool looking to give Salah a new contract.
Hard to tell where the guy is mentally...and even if you knew....it's bound to change in a couple years, but the guy rotted on the bench at Chelsea, went to Roma, and then has come here, and has had a great season, and I think he's super happy with his situation. I think a guy like him might be a little hesitant to go join "the big clubs" because this is a REALLY good fit, and good situation here. He's been to the big clubs, and has seen the horror side.
One of the things we need to do is WIN THE F***ING GAME TOMORROW KLOPP!! Win a Prem game every now and then eh?!? Get that win, and we'll be back in CL no matter what happens with Madrid. That will go a ways I'm sure.
Couple pieces....and a coach who takes the bottom 10 serious.....I think we can challenge for the title. Let's tie Salah up, and make this sh** happen man!

I'd be surprised if Salah pulled a Coutinho. Unlike Phil or Suarez, he isn't South American and therefore isn't infatuated with Madrid or Barcelona. He knows he's a great fit in Klopp's system, can't really say that about other managers. The biggest thing is that so much of his scoring is off hustling and cleaning up others' misses and the way Klopp keeps strengthening the side, that should only increase. Keita and Salah should be extremely complementary.

Now you want to praise the guy? Unbelievable...
You've been on his case and yet cannot see the progress made under him. When was the last time Liverpool reached consecutive CL? Despite your moans, the club finished one point less than last season all while competing and advancing to the CL final. Did you know Liverpool was the only team to remain unbeaten at home. Yes, there are things to be improved upon, but to go on as you did saying he should be out for this or that is ridiculous.

Uh....yeah absolutely. Nothing confusing here. I've said it before, I'll say it again: 12 draws is completely unacceptable to me. Klopp has done many things right....I like the guy, I really WANT him to bring a title, and be a big success. But we are inconsistent. We lose/draw to way too many lower tier teams, and despite the many, many good things...I rather doubt he will bring us a title.
Hope I'm wrong...but I think he has a horrible approach/attitude to lesser teams. And so despite all the good, if we have double-digit draws again next season (barring EXTREME injuries) I want him replaced. Because I want to see us hoist a PL title.
None of this is new, dude. Been tooting that exact message for 2 years. Read the posts. Of course I'm glad we got into the CL. Of course I'm glad we made it to the final. Hope we win (I am a Liverpool fan after all). But I'm not some Klopp suckup. I really like the guy, but I've had it with our approach to lesser teams, and the crazy draws we have each season. If he doesn't fix it next year, I hope they can him. Kapeesh?

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
And way to make it negative, btw.
I've been very complimentary of Klopp about the things he's done right....and I always root for him/team to win. I ain't got something against the guy personally.
That's great you think he's doing a wonderful job. Go ahead and hope he stays coach for years to come. There's plenty to be happy about. I get all of that. I'm not interested in the CL...other than the obvious $$ it brings to help the club, and that star players view it as important.
Got the Liverpool crest tattooed on my back after 2005. Screamed at the TV that we got jobbed in stoppage time in 2007 (Usually when a ref gives 3minutes stoppage, you get about 3:20 seconds...we got 2:57. I have never before, or since seen that. Prob wouldn't have made a difference, but when your drunk, and your team just lost the final....what can you do, except scream at the TV???). Been there, done that. Not important to me (I've admitted such in prior post). I want a PL title. As you pointed out.....we went back a point this season, didn't we? 2 additional draws, 1 less loss. Not alot of change, if you ask me. And you can completely disagree with me...but I think alot of those draws to lesser teams comes down to his attitude towards those squads. And his post-game interview a couple weeks back certainly seems to back my opinion up.
If he wants to come out and tear the league a new a## next year.......Perfect. I would love it, and I'll be the first to commend the guy on what a fantastic job he's done with this team.
But if we hang around 3rd-4th with double-digit draws again....I want to get a manager who takes the league more serious.

I totally agree (maybe i just strongly WANT him to stick around). I think he fits here really well.
I think there are plenty of non-S.Americans who want to play for Barca-drid. I think it's the pinnacle of soccer, in most players minds. But Salah went to Chelsea, and felt the burn of the bench. We just need to compete for the league better, and stay in the CL....and I think he will stay happy. Who knows? This has been an incredible year for him....and we're in the CL final. Top of the world.
But how quickly that becomes 'old hat' with players. Will he fancy himself "better than this" in 2-3 years?

Well....prob a little over-stated, but yeah. Obviously, it's cool to be in the final. It would be our first piece of major hardware in a decade or so.
But if God came down and asked me "You can intentionally lose this game...and I'll put you tied for first with 5 games to go next season" I'd take those chances in a heartbeat.

Re: Official Liverpool FC Thread
Read a good article today. The writer and I are on same page for most of it. Obviously he's not threatening Klopp's job (I think I'm prob the only Liv fan on that boat) but he does certainly acknowledge the ties. I grabbed from the middle...but in the first sentence, 'one' refers to our season.
""When the dust settled there were uncanny similarities between this and the previous one.
The Reds won one point less and finished in the same position, winning the same number of home games and one less away game. They've scored a few more goals and conceded a few less but still had to win their final game in order to confirm a place in next season's Champions League.
There were one or two small differences. Liverpool finished unbeaten at home and while there were too many draws it feels as though the Anfield fortress of old might be making a comeback.
At the back there were small improvements. Liverpool conceded 28 goals in their first 23 encounters, but only let in 10 for their final 15 matches. Some of that can be attributed to the purchase of Virgil van Dijk allied to the improvement at left-back in the form of Andrew Robertson. Trent Alexander-Arnold also made a significant contribution at right back.
Overall the reduction in goals conceded was tiny but around the January mark Liverpool were headed towards another season where they let in 45-50. Any improvement on that has to be applauded.
Can further improvements be made next year? You suspect more new players are needed, another centre-back alongside van Dijk perhaps or a new goalkeeper. Loris Karius has done well but never really presented himself as a formidable barrier before now -- the feeling that David De Gea gives Manchester United.""
The writer actually has alot of praise for our midfield. Thinks our midfield is pretty damn solid. Wants to see us bring another midfielder or two in for "variety" / depth. Feels sometimes we need a "spark" when teams play us defensively. He thinks we're damn solid up front (I think everyone agrees there). We just need a little more depth, and as in the part I quoted, we need some better defense. Definitely agree with needing more defense. Van Dijk made an immediate difference. You can watch him, and just see how much better he is than the rest back there. We need another one of those guys. I like Robertson....I am happy giving him another season to improve, and see what we have. But we can def add another legit defender somewhere in there.
If we can get some depth....and work on all those damn draws, I think we will have a real shot next season.

You definitely need defensive help. Your attack and midfield has depth but if you lose Van dijk for the season then you won't be making the CL next year.

You know that they won't actually play against each other don't you?
The match is so much bigger than those 2 and to suggest it isn't is disrespectful to the other players, teams and football in general.

Yes...as those numbers pointed out in that article, we went from a sub-par defense to a fairly decent defense as soon as Van Dijk showed up. He's a legit defender, and while even the best can have a bad day.....you can see the difference game in and game out with that guy. I think a couple guys stepped up as well (prob cause Van-Dijk made things easier overall) but we need another 1-2 defenders of that quality. I don't want to get greedy and expect perfection at ever spot.....but the season is long. Injuries. If we sign only 1 other guy...you gotta hope both defenders are healthy all year, if you really wanna make a title-run.
Could we accept a slight step-down in quality for our 2nd defender? Prob. But at least make it someone solid. Maybe a veteran who's past the prime, but can hold the fort for a month.
I would focus on defense...get someone really legit. Go get a couple young guys...start grooming. Get a vet for emergencies. My understanding is we have a good "defensive midfielder" coming in. I think that's great too. Perfect. We basically didn't have Lallana this season....so having him back will give our team another look/feel. And depth.
After that......gravy. Klopp has done a wonderful job with his signings. Let him sign another offensive piece.
