What is needed...

Besides a new gm and coach.

An upgrade at pg and backup pg. Injury concerns will always be there with RJ. If no injury, he would be ok.

Obviously the hornets pg would be nice but at what cost.

And

A sf upgrade. I'm all for Mario Henzonja who should not cost more than the MLE.

tyreke evans would be another option that should not cost more than the MLE.

....

And I'm all on board for Stackhouse as coach. If not him, one of the spurs assistants.

Good luck with that. Jackson has negative trade value; he's had two straight seasons riven by injury, has not proven that he can regain his prior degree of athleticism, and has $35 million left on his contract. If the Pistons cannot move him, they cannot upgrade at PG. And they'd struggle to upgrade at PG anyway, given that they have no assets that they can afford to part with.

Upgrading at backup PG will likewise be difficult, albeit less so. Ish is cheap. Better backup point guards will not be so cheap, nor will other teams likely trade them for nothing.

Mario Hezonja is not a good player. He's not an upgrade over Johnson. He's mediocre on offense and terrible on defense, and he's athletically unremarkable. Evans may choose to take a larger contract for a bad team, or the MLE for a contender. Detroit cannot give him a larger contract, and is not a contender.

Realistically, if moving away from Blake / Dre / Reggie is not an option in the mind of ownership, then I think we should aggregate whatever pieces we have (Kennard / Stanley / Ellenson / contract filler) into the best playmaking wing we can acquire that fits the age timeline of our "core".

Give it time, the right coach can make things look better. SVG was too rigid and didn't have any answers, once RJ went down his offense was broke, once Griffin came in once again he couldn't make it work. A good coach with creative offensive concepts can make it work, Griffin is still a good player, Drummond is a good player, RJ is a good player, look at what a coach like Stevens in Boston can do working things together and building on players strengths. That's why I'd take a chance on Stackhouse or some other big upside type of choice for coach.

Just ride it out. I see no point in investing in this team until the garbage contracts and players are gone.

Mario is pretty good offensively and is getting better on defense, but is not good on defense. His athletics are pretty decent as I have seen him make some amazing plays as well as some incredibly sick passes. He has great court vision and even played Point Guard for a 10 game stretch under Skiles. Mario's main problem has always been lack of motivation and poor BBIQ.

I don't really care who they sign, but don't make it longer then two years. Keep flexibility so we can press the reset button.

I’m on board for only 1st yr contract players acquired, and resigning our currents first contract players ONLY, until griffin and Drummond contracts expire. Try to win but don’t invest, reset after griffin and Jackson move on, Drummond could repeat these stats for the next ten yrs.

Josh Smith would not be so bad on a $5-7 mil per salary!

So, what you're saying is that we need a team organization, from management, coaching to the roster?

You'd be correct. And, a new owner while we're at it.
