Well, its been a great season everyone

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Mon Apr 30, 2018 2:55 pm

This whole year of Pacers basketball was just plain fun to witness. I had a blast. The team's direction seems to be on rise. The drama from the last few years was absent. This is just a great group of guys to root for. I really thought we had a good chance to make it to the second round even laying the dreaded Lebrons in the playoffs AGAIN. And even though that didn't happen, the fight the team put up was admirable.

I'd like to thank each and every one of you for coming by and posting about the team and putting your thoughts and opinions and ideas out here. This might be a smaller board compared to some of the other team sections on this site, but it's a very enjoyable one. I don't actually know many Pacers fans in my life offline, so it's really awesome to have a place to chat about the team. If only there were as many Pacers fans as Colts fans running around this city. Maybe one day.

The season is over, but the saga will continue. Now it is on to off-season improvement from the existing players, the draft, and free agency.

How many days is it until next season starts? Can't wait!

Most years, a first round exit feels like a major letdown and I kind of have to look away for awhile to let the disappointment fade away. But not this year. Even going down in the first round, the team fought hard in every game. That alone was an improvement over the last couple campaigns. But to nearly win 50 games in the regular season and then push LeBron to a different limit than he's ever faced in the first round, and to do it all with such a great group of guys all playing together, playing for each other, and playing the way Indy wants to see the game played - it didn't take very long yesterday for me to accept the loss as a lesson and opportunity to grow. I'm pumped for this offseason and can't wait for next year to begin! It cannot come fast enough!

that day was here. neither team was good in the 80's although the Colts were the new kid on the block and that sold tickets. Jeff George was drafted in 1990 and the Colts continued to stink. Reggie was drafted in '87 and Rik in '88. In the 90's, it was all Reggie, Rik, McKey, and the Davises - the Hicks versus the Knicks. Peyton was drafted in '98 and turned everything around for the Colts. it wasn't until after 2000 that the dome started to be full of fans wearing Colts jerseys. then there was the brawl in 2004 and the Pacers collapsed. 2018-19 should be a good year for both teams although it'll be the Colts turn to exceed expectations,

the 2017-18 season is over now. the Colts have drafted and the Pacers won't draft for months. I'll stop by from time to time and whenever the app tells me that one of my posts has been quoted or and-oned, but I won't check for new posts every day as I have this season. technically teams can trade once their seasons are over, but I don't expect any action until July. enjoy your Spring and I'll see you back here in mid-summer.

Well said. I don't really believe in moral victories. But, when you step back and look at it in October we all would have taken 48 wins and taking Cleveland 7 games in a heartbeat.

The Pacers should have won the series with the Cavs. It's a simple as the nose on your face they got screwed a dozen times by the crooked refs and never got bought dinner once.

It was a great season, 15-16 more wins than I thought they'd get at the beginning of the year. Getting Victor and Damos was a huge win for KP. Signing Collison and Bogie were both great signings and getting Cory Joseph for free was a no brainer.

I am very upset with the NBA refs we saw the better team lose in our round 1 series with the Cavs. Game 1 and game 6 showed who was the better team. If not for a huge number of blown calls in games 2, 4, 5 and 7 there would not have been more than 5 games and LBJ would be at home watching us play Toronto.

I'm on my phone so pasting a link isn't something I know how to do, but there's an article on nba.com from Mark Boyle well worth reading.

Great season, this season around here has been more lively than ever.

Now, time to look forward to the draft.

I'm just going to say this

I enjoyed watching Reggie Miller greatly, and followed the Pacers closely starting from Larry Bird's first year as coach till Reggie retired

I still check on the Pacers every now and then after that, during the Jermaine O'Neal and subsequent Danny Granger led squads

But my interest in the Pacers, and NBA in general, completely died off during the Paul George era; I just find that squad extremely difficult to like, and very off putting, which was more or less in line with the general millennial "me first" attitude that was everywhere that time

But here I am, back again, mentally cheering for this Pacer squad just as hard as I cheered for the Reggie Miller led squads in the past

Great season.

Had a lot of fun watching this team and meeting cool people here.

I'll still be around daily, although not posting, but I'll be here.

Wish it hadn't ended, but what you gonna do, you know.

It's about the name on the front, not on the back, of the jersey.

It's inspiring to see a team in the modern league do what our guys have done, hear from the players, coaches and those exposed to the inner circle. What a group.

Thanks for a very enjoyable year, but let's go a few better in 2019.

Here is an interview with Thad Young well worth reading. I'd say he wants to come back but doesn't want to throw money away either. I'm reminded of Dale Davis' departure. He let a player option lapse and then realized he had made a mistake. He became so unhappy that he had to be traded.

as a turkish basketball follower i am greatly surprised on bojan bogdanovic this season. he was a fan favourite in turkish team fenerbahce before other (bogdan from sacramento) bogdanovic. he was good but not complete. in the series against cleveland he stepped up even against lebron. i think you really earned a good player. congrats pals.

Booo.... bring back the Murphleavy-era mods. That was a better Pacers squad anyways. Boooo....

It was an amazing season. We're going to have more ups and downs next season. Whatever happens, win, lose, or draw next season, we'll always have this special one.
