Raptors had the coach of the year and look what good that did them...I agree Boston will play with more fire, but it won't be enough.

Actually brad Stevens is on the Celtics

He is considered a great coach by his players that would otherwise be lesser players on other teams, but what has he won? he didn't get 1 vote in the recent coaches poll.
I think he is a solid coach that gets the most from average players, he turned Isaiah into a **** allstar so kudos there but don't think that makes the difference to Lebron and co.

Isiah Tomas turned himself into al all star. But brad is still a great coach. Comparing Casey to him is like comparing Rudy gay to Lebron

people are seriously overrating stevens and underrating the caliber of players the celtics have

tatum is a stud, rozier is projecting to be a top 10 starting pg easily, horford while older is still an all star (5x)

despite this, I see very little chance of them beating Lebron + co, predicting Cavs in 5

Where are you getting this data? Per NBA.com statistics a "wide open" shot is defined as no defender within 6 ft. Indy allowed 13.2 of these per game. Toronto allowed 14.5. Furthermore, any shot with a defender 4 plus feet away is defined as open/wide open. Cavs shot 36.2% against Indy on these. They shot 34.8% against Toronto. So the Cavs actually shot better on open + wide open shots against Indy than they did against Toronto.

Pacers played more physical, and I mean WAY MORE physical than the Raptors did. Thats what it comes down to. Period

Exactly and Lance isnt afraid of LB one bit....I can bet $1K if that was LB instead of Clarkson going in for that dunk, DD pulls up and lets him do it instead of committing the hard foul like he did

Celtics in 7... Time to Shock the world...

I think we matchup well with these guys outside of Lebron.. One thing that will really help Hoford this time around is the addition of Baynes.. We have a hot and cold offense but multiple folks that can score 15-20 in a given night.. Dont think the Cavs have the defenders to completely shut down our guys and the unpredictable scoring will have the Cavs adjusting throughout the game.. Semi/Morris/Smart/Brown/Horford will take their turns on Lebron.. Baynes should be able to handle TT.. Korver/Smith/Hill/Hood/Lance/Clarkson dont scare me..

And bringing up the past series is silly.. Cavs played out of this world that season.. They are a lot worse than last year

Also dinging Stevens career playoff achievements is also silly.. He has lost key contributors each season/ post season and still pushed his team to two straight conference finals.. the times his teams that lost in the first round also were impacted by overall weak rosters and injuries (AB against the hawks)..

i think this is going to be fun.
The cavs will have trouble adjusting to the « every one switch on defense », Tatum, Morris, horford, brown, smart, semi, baynes is tough to deal with.
Lebron Will get his but it will be a lot harder for every one else.

While I don’t see this injured celtics team beating lebron James in a seven game series, they play with so much poise, toughness and determination that they’ll give themselves a chance.
Rebounding and rim protection will be a key for the Celtics.

As a pacers fan, I see them as a more dangerous opponent for lebron than we were.

I think many thought 76ers would beat Cavs.
Boston beats 76ers 4-1.
So Cavs favored over Boston? lol
I think...and hope...that what we are seeing in Boston doesn't fold against LB.

What I think is going to happen is that they won't be able to do much to slow LB down. But Cavs are so bad defensively that Tatum and the others will go off. If Boston is truly the tough well coached team they've show....I think they take Cavs in a long tough series.

this will be a tough matchup for the cavs. I think it's impossible to compare the cavs and sixers, because BOS really shut down PHI by making Simmons a liability on offense. PHI was -17 with Simmons on the court and +33 with Simmons on the bench. That's just insane.
I can't really envision a scenario in which the Cavs stand a better chance against BOS with Lebron on the bench, but of course anything is possible.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

I'm standing by my team and voted Celtics in 7.

On a side note, this thread is a lot more civil compared to the Celtics vs. Sixers' and Bucks' series threads. Lots of hot takes and trash talking on those threads.

The Pacers were pretty dangerous. Indiana was incredible this season. Before, they were lumped in with the potential tankers, and instead they made the playoffs and took LeBron to 7. Great job.
