So was Casey. We need a coach who can READ the players psychologically and know how to prepare his team in the mental game. THAT's been our biggest failure thus far. We just don't got it.

Casey was a former spurs assistant? He was a good X's and O's coach?

What do you think I'm refering to fam. Yes he is good tactically. In regular season. Remember we swept Rockets. Something no other team did. Defensively his schemes (at times) have looked great. Fundamentally he failed in the playoffs. A huge part of it is preparing his teams mentally for it. None of his teams come to the playoffs ready to do battle.

Agreed. Although i feel like Bud could mask Ibakas deficiencies moreso than derozan if he gets him moving without the ball. Derozan is a pure iso guy and he does not fit the mold.

Y’all are worried about DD and Serge but FVV, Delon, Miles, Jak, Siakam, OG, Kyle and maybe even Norm will benefit greatly with Budenholzer.

Not worried about Demar just yet.

You’re joking right?

We are trying to go from good to great. And I’m frustrated with our post-seasons too.

But, most teams would BEG to go from missing the playoffs to 5 straight around 50 win seasons, without Generational Talent, most recently 56 and 59 wins, and Casey was a HUGE part of our Regular Season success.

Couple that with being a lead assistant on the Championship Dallas Mavericks?

Tell me you’re trolling. He will be hired as a Head Coach again for sure.

Tell me which team is gonna do it. I only see him getting assistant job offers. I know what he’s done but he’s 61...

I’ll take Woj’s opinion that Casey will coach again over yours. Says Bucks, Pistons, Magic high possibility. He is near the top of all teams wish list. Also said maybe Casey takes a year off since he will still be paid 6m. And is patient in his selection of which team he coaches. But he definitely will coach again this year or next year.

Why would you take WOJ's opinion over mine? Personally I feel like rebuilding teams need younger coaches to grow with like Spo, Stevens, Walton, etc. How many years does Casey have left in the tank? That's just why I'd be surprised. Are teams offering 4-5 year deals? Seems like he'd continue coaching for another 2 years.

We have Ibaka.

Yep, Ibaka is the biggest problem

DeRozan too though. Bud's system generally relies on their SG being an outside threat

it relies more on bigs that can pass. Horford/Millsap were better than this Lowry/Derozan. Coach Bud isn't coaching this team to better success in playoffs with a Lowry/Derozan/Ibaka core. I wouldn't be suprised if Casey gets Bucks coaching job and they add a player and they beat Raps next year in playoffs. People talk about Celtics lack of talent rn but Jayson tatum/Jaylen are already as good Derozan if not better already.

This just speaks to his strength in utilizing the players on his roster. Horford and Milsap were elite front court iq. He simply engineered on offense that played to this strength.

Either Ibaka or Val will get traded. Val will most likely be the easier guy to trade.

Someone like Marc Gasol would be lethal in Mike's system

Val and CJ for Gasol works.

Gasol getting brought up a lot despite his terrible year. I know a lot has been made of the poor coaching in Memphis, but isn't Marc still a shadow of his former self?

We can't habe Becky Hammon cuz she's a woman.

Gotta please the Rexdale fans who are faithful followers.

I'd rather keep CJ. And PLus, Memphis would want a more younger wing back with potential. Norm Would be more likely

People writing off Budenholzer need to consider a few things:

- The Cavs team that swept the Hakws >>>>>>>>>>> The Cavs team that swept us

- Milsap and Horford are high IQ bigs that made their offensive system really work but they weren't scorers. That team was greater than the sum of their parts. Furthermore, their bench was piss poor and didn't have the defensive versatility that we do.

- Korver broke his ankle or severely sprained it (can't remember the specifics) and Demarre had a leg injury that basically ended his season but he was stubborn and came back to play. He never looked the same. Cavs don't sweep them if that team is healthy.

he also got swept by lebron after being 1st in the east, why take him?

I also think Derozan deserves at least half the blame. The dude completely disappeared and choked. I won't respect him until he proves me wrong. Until then, he is a worthless all-star.

Disagree completely. The Cavs team that swept them the first time had no Love and no Kyrie (I think he played a game or two but he was hobbled). JR and Dellevadova were their best players. The biggest issue with our matchups with the Cavs is on the defensive end. We cannot defend them at all. Bud's team had better defensive talent than us yet they let the Cavs have record 3pt shooting against them. He has no clue defending those guys.

At first I was a little meh on Bud figuring we were trading one regular season coach for another. I initially wanted Stackhouse, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle, but really that would be more of a crapshoot, especially when we are looking for a next level coach.

Reading up on Bud I think he has more potential in that he is apparently a great in game tactician and had worked under Pop for 4 championships.

He also would approach the team with a new set of eyes that could maybe make better use of our flawed players abilities rather than try and fit guys into predetermined slots. I think while Casey did a good job overall with the young guys, he underused guys like JV and CJ and over used DeRozan to the point that the team would shutdown if he got shutdown.

What I like about Bud is that he knows how to run an actual offense. Look at the ball movement he preaches, incredible.

Are you serious? Mediocre NBA coaches get fired and rehired all the time. Casey just came of a season winning 59 games and first seed in the Eastern conference.

He is guaranteed to be coaching another team next season.
