Really good press conference, local media did a good job getting info on a guy we really don't know much about. Also, it helps that he was very open and certainly did his homework on last year's team.

Likes a lot of our players but struggled a bit on that Howard question. Mentioned developing the young guys (of which he still considers MKG) and how he can help Kemba and Batum, but with Howard all he could do was point back to last year and say he had a good season.

He and Mitch don't envision blowing up the team but, if they did they certainly wouldn't say or even hint at it at an introductory presser.

If we didn't just title this thread, "Everybody Loves James" would be obvious given Pop's nickname for him.

Yeah, that press conference was good. He seems sharp and he said all the right things in terms of how the team should play and what needs to be emphasized.

The Batum comments concern me, but maybe we build up his value and trade him at the deadline depending on where our record is.

Also.... any shot at him bringing Hammon over as his top Asst. ?

if batum becomes skinny, high efficiency boris diaw - who wouldn't like that?

its not like we can ever trade him unless you want something like tyler johnson back :lol:

Batum will at least look a decent amount better on offense just from Howard hopefully being gone and likely a little better on defense if used correctly by Borrego. Hes always going to be disappointing for his salary, but hes at least a solid rotation player. We at least didn't throw all that money on someone who you just can't put on the court. If hes healthy and in decent shape hes very playable in the right system. He most likely needs to come off the bench, though, so the franchise is possibly going to need to accept the optics of bringing a 25 million a year player off the bench.

We're hopefully going to draft a Batum understudy in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. JB should have a lot of fun working on lineups that incorporate Kemba, Batum, Monk, and/or Shai. In today's NBA playmakers and guys that can defend multiple positions are worth their weight in gold. And if you can do both, you are going to make a lot of money playing in the NBA.

And speaking of Gilgeous-Alexander I think he can go as early as 7 to the Kings. He is not getting the due he is owed by the mock draft sites.

Batum is one thing on paper, but he’s another in real life. I hope he is played at the 3 and never again at the 2. But, everything will need to be proven out based on results.

I’m happy we have a coach and GM on the same page. Let’s see how this plays out with trades, our lottery pick, etc.

I think it would be great to bring in Nick Nurse since Kupchak also interviewed him and he's credited as the offensive coordinator of the Raptors. It was already reported that he's being considered as Casey's replacement but maybe we can have him as part of JB's staff if he doesn't get the gig in Toronto.

Nate Tibbetts is another one that would be intriguing to have. He's the offensive coach in Portland, while Vanterpool runs the team's defense.

I also wish to see Steve Hetzel and Bruce Kreutzer back. Hetzel worked closely with Kemba and Kreutzer — according to Bonnell — is well-liked by the players. Plus, there's not a lot of "shot doctors" around the league so it would be valuable to have someone like him around. And working with Monk this summer could augur well for our 2017 pick.

The Hornets have a minority owner and coach. So I think using "regressive" as a descriptor for the organization is going a bit too far. We don't know why Stephanie Ready was demoted, it's foolish to jump to mysogony as an explanation without any evidence to support it.
