Yeah, Kevin O'Connor is saying the same thing about Coach Bud. It's what he's been hearing.

Remember how Raptors fans used to make fun of the Hawks for getting swept, and how they would say that the Celtics were a fake #1 seed just like the Hawks in 2015? Pretty fitting that the fake #1 seed of this year is now hiring the coach of the fake #1 seed in 2015. Great scam by Masai. Buys him 3 more years to do absolutely nothing but "evaluate".

Casey technically hasn't won it yet, but yes, Karl (under Masai I believe).

So the better question is has anyone ever been fired before they actually won COTY?

Complete Masai move

Inherit a mostly complete team. Make some trade, shuffle some deck chairs, fire a winning coach, trade a "star player" then leave for a previously Colangelo run team

Masai to Philly in 2021

You've got to be kidding me...

Another Warriors player leaving money on the table.

They are going to have to pay Durant next year unless of course he takes another pay cut.

Warriors payroll is going to be insane.
Curry 37m
Durant ( I assume he will make at least 30M)
Klay 19m
Green 17m
Iguodala 16m

119m in 5 guys and nothing can be done to stop them as they will just keep paying the tax. Warriors are not going away for the next 5 years unfortunately.

Beta boy will definitely take a discount next year to help keep the band together.

No doubt. These guys would rather stay together than get paid. Unlike any other players in the league...

I have never understood players leaving money on the table. I am going to guess the GSW's ownership group has assets north of 10 Billion. They have exorbitant ticket/concession prices and 10+ home playoff games each year. They can afford the tax. I understand being comfortable in a situation, but 50 million to KT is an incredible buffer. For Lacob and his buddies, it is a good, (or bad) week in the market. I think it is foolish.

Eh, I understand it. Think about it: what can you do with $150 million that you can't do with $100 million? Not to mention the fact that he is already in the middle of a $70 million deal, so it's not like the dude is in need of cash.

Klay obviously likes it in Golden State. He's comfortable there. I'll use myself as an example. I was born in New Jersey and have lived here my entire life. Most of my immediate family is here. If a company in New Jersey offered me $100 million and a company in Florida or California offered me $150 million, I would take the $100 million offer.

Sometimes, it's not all about the money. Remember: KG left money on the table to stay here. As a matter of fact, the dude didn't even test free agency. The Spurs' players left money on the table countless times.

Yeah, this sucks for us Celtics fans because it means the Warriors will be keeping the band together for a few extra years, but I'm not gonna lambaste a guy for choosing comfort over some extra dough. Again, $100 million is still nothing to sneeze at.

I hear you. Comfort has value. 70 Million in salary minus taxes, etc. equals more like 37 Million. Incredible money, but my point is Lacob and Co. are multi-billionaires.

I'm fully with you on this one mbsn. Get paid. There are too many Antoine like horror stories out there to not get yours when you can, as you said, taxes are involved with all of this too.

The only kind of negative rep the Spurs org has around the league is that they try to get guys to take less, its why I'm still not sure that Kawhi is in the wrong, I think they may have tried to pull some bull.

I think Klay is being incredibly stupid as well, but I've always thought that he was one of the least intelligent players in this league off court.

And his father doesn't understand how the metric system works.

Great ballers in that family but definitely lacking some stuff up there.

The league should've never let this happen in the first place- should've flattened the cap out in 2016 over the next couple a years rather than let it explode

Yeah, but this isn't going to be an Antoine story. I'm all for getting money, but in Klay's case it's not like he's gonna have his family to support or guys from the hood hitting him up for cash. He grew up wealthy on the West Coast and his bro is with the White Sox. Dude literally doesn't have to be a smart dude because he's already set for life.

If I was able to grow up wealthy and probably be set for life I'd stay where I grew up. Especially if it was California. Could you imagine growing up on the beach and then all of the sudden having to leave for say Cleveland? I think the Midwest is cool, but in California they act like it either doesn't exist or is a frozen wasteland. I was in Santa Monica a few winters ago and it got down to 55-60 and people were walking around in puffy coats. Was waiting in a big group for sushi with my Midwestern friends in a hoodie and shorts and everyone walking by looked at us like we were aliens.

What is with all the Sixers talk the past 24 hours? Multiple reports popping up about them going after PG13, Lebron and Kawhi.

They probably realise that Embiid and Simmons won't get them past Tatum brown Kyrie Big Al and GH hence the need to make some solid changes
