Kawhi's situation have nothing in common with IT's situation bc IT wanted to build his value with good plays in the playoffs but it ended bad .

Where would Ingram fit in a hypothetical lineup that includes Leonard, George, and Lebron?
Playing PG or coming off the bench.

I still maintain that with Kawhi, we should at least try and see if we can do the Randle S&T for Leonard first. If by some miracle we end up with both George and Leonard and keep Ball, Ingram and Kuzma and can even bring in a third max (DMC or Lebron), how have we not just created a dynasty. Which should be the main goal over just creating a good team.
If we're going to compete against the bostons or Philly's, the main pieces of our core have to remain and develop whilst we add stars around them.

Westbrook, LBJ & PG... PG, Boogie & LBJ... Come on guys, get REAL... We have struck out for 5 years... I know the vibe has changed & Magic/Pelinka are making moves but let’s be realistic... Our goal should be to secure PG DAY ONE... It is realistic & achievable... Our perimeter defense with Ball, PG & Ingram would be sick... Let Kuzz play PF & lets go to work building the rest of the team (defensive center, wings & backup PG) through the draft & free agency... We are a playoff team with PG & another year of development +12/15 games...
PG or BUST... Lakeshow Baby...

Why do that when we could sign him next summer? Besides, it would take more than Ingram to make salaries match.
I’d be careful with that. And if George doesn’t sign here this summer, that would prove this theory to be wrong.

if you guys could land PG and Kawhi this offseason, how would you feel about DeRozen? I think he's an awesome 3rd wheel and a great fit alongside those two guys. Maybe Deng + Kuzma for DD

Stop peddling Derozan, he was **** before that fat contact and he's even more immovable now. If we land PG and Kawhi we need shooters and defenders, Derozan is neither. He is a high usage volume scorer who might be a better fit in a place like Memphis that needs some scoring. Kuzma and even Deng rounding out the stretch 4 rotation are far better fits.

Re: The Offseason Of Redemption. Lakers Rumors, Trades, Signings 2018.
To me players fall into 3 basic categories.
first, you have your foundational players who are good enough to build contenders around. Then you have your complimentary players that have the skill set to surround your foundational players, last you have your speciality players who provide a spark when needed or when your foundational players are getting a breather.
A guy like Derozan impersonates a foundational player but isn’t good enough to be one, and doesn’t have the skill set to be a complimentary player. He really should be a specialist, a really good one. Too bad he’s not paid like one.
If given a choice, I’d rather have Deng than Derozan.

Deng can be stretched and disposed of, Derozan is a commitment you can’t get rid of without finding the next sucker.

Not exactly as far as the salaries.
Because we have the salary cap space beginning July 5th (after the moratorium), we can absorb any amount of money into that cap space even if the outgoing money doesn’t fall within 90%.
Because of our cap space, even if we don’t acquire a veteran star in free agency, it makes us favorites for trading for a star because the other team wouldn’t have to accept a bad deal in return to match salary.

If we were to get Kawhi I'm 99% sure both Lebron and George will follow soon after.
I'm not on the Randle wagon, never was....his skillset is limited in today's NBA, I don't see a whole lot of winning teams where his game could work out, but one of them is definitely San Antonio. We all know Pop loves him, unfortunately sign and trading his ass won't be enough, it pains me to say this but we need to include Ingram.
Randle will have 0 problems to agreeing with a S&T and play for Pop, as long as it's getting him paid.
Randle/Ingram for a disgruntled Kawhi, the Spurs can't say no....I'd even reckon we could make them take Deng as well if we add an incentive or two, or simply bluff on Kawhi's impending FA. He has a year left on his contract, the Spurs can't ask for the moon here.
We'd still have Ball/Kuzma/Hart, plus possibly Lopez since the room exception is still there...plus the afromentioned 3 super stars.
Ring chasers would walk to LA and play for free if it was possible, that 7 man foundation + the right pieces are more than enough to contend from year one.

Yeah, but the Spurs can say F the Lakers and send Kawhi east because they don't give a F about what he wants.

Can’t believe Laker fans would even want Demar.
Thankfully Rob Pelinka has a brain and won’t trade for him.

We don't trade for someone who is going to be a free agent next summer. What happened with PG? Laker fans were dying to trade for him last summer and we waited and we're in a perfect position to sign him without losing any assets.
We can sign Kawhi next summer without losing assets. However, I rather have Kuzma and Ingram than Kawhi. Kawhi's injury and the fact that he didn't even show up to the playoffs is enough to ruin the idea of signing him for me. Let's see what he can do next year for whatever team and if he's still a top ten player, then we can attempt to sign him then. The last thing we need is to trade for Kawhi this summer to then have him walk next summer to another team.
Zo
PG
Ingram
Lebron
Randle
That's my ideal line-up for next year. Pretty "simple" if you will..
July 1st - Trade Deng + 2019 1st Unprotected + 25th 2018 Pick (We'll select for them, similar to D'Angelo deal last year), + 5 million cash to the Hawks for cash considerations.
July 5th-10th - Sign PG + Lebron to max level deals, try to get PG on a little bit of a discount.
July 8th - Convince Randle to sign the QO, which allows him to be a free agent next summer.
Rest of the summer - Sign Lopez to Vet min, sign KCP to MLE.

Cavs just made a trade to Boston whom they beat in the ECF. At the end of the day the Spurs are smart enough to take the best offer. People who care about rivalry when making a trade shouldn't have a job.

I'd be careful with any eastern team receiving KL. With one year left on his contract, they could end up with just a one year rental.
